A place to chill with your friends
by traceyspacey about The Elbow room
The Elbow rooms is a combination of a pool hall, with a club and a bar. The music is a mixture of indie, Hip Hop and Drum and base. There is a relaxed feeling to inside. Some unusual beers on offer, not as many as other places. Private room hire is available. If you are a smoker, warning it's a bit of trek back outside also if you go outside just before 10pm, make sure that you get your hand stamped so you can get back in okay without having to pay. I don't know how much they charge, sorry. I do know that they charge £6-£9 per hour of pool, depending upon what time you are there. Bit expensive.
DJ's are on Friday and Saturday nights. Check out the posters on the walls for upcoming events in the area. No dress code, but you won't get in if you are wearing chav clothes (tracksuit). Trainers are fine.
Two Four One Pizza, Pasta & Sandwiches!
by spidermiss about Trio Bar and Grill
I highly recommend Trio Bar and Grill for lunch where you can get two for one when you order pizza, pasta and sandwiches! They do other dishes including starters, salads and grills.
I went there with my work colleagues for our Christmas lunch in December 2010 and it was pleasant enjoying the food in such a decor setting. I order a Pesto Linguini with has linguini with basil pesto, baby spinich and courgettes in a cream sauce and presented with sun-blushed tomatoes, rocket and parmesan. The dish was delicious and I highly recommend this!
Temple Newsam Park (Estate & Grounds)
by spidermiss
It's a perfect place for everyone to do something or simply take a picnic and relax. There is The Farm where you can see the farm animals and rare breeds. The Estate itself covers over 1500 acres of grounds including gardens, woodlands and lakes and designed by Capability Brown, a famous 18th Century landscape designer. In the summer a number of events are held in the park including the yearly "Opera in the Park" and "Party in the Park" and various fairs.
Go Shopping at the Corn...

Go Shopping at the Corn Exchange!
A very odd combination of an old victorian corn exchange building intermingled with local designer fashion, music shops, the condom shop (i hope that's still there!!!) and lots of other little gems. In the basement is a bar and a small but very good cafe/restaurant.. good place to pick up some unique clothes/gifts without paying a fortune! (although you may get your fortune read if one of the psychic's has ventured out!)
