A good example of a traditional pub

by traceyspacey about Whitelocks

Whitelocks is tucked just off Briggate. It is formally known as the Turks Head and Slip Inn and dates back to 1715. It is separated into to parts by the kitchen. Something that we could not work out when we first went there. There is seating outside in the courtyard. The staff are friendly and there is a good range of traditional beers. I would recommend this to anyone on their first visit to Leeds.

I have yet to try the food, it has been recommended by friends. No dress code

TAPAS WITH A CUBAN FEEL

by alyf1961 about VIVA CUBA

When you walk into viva Cuba it is like been transported into South America, well-worn tables and chairs, scrubbed unvarnished floors and candles in empty bottles of South America wine. The walls adorned photographs of south American street scenes and people. My daughter and I had Tapas with three dishes each and extra garlic bread but we could not finish it all. We ordered chorizo [Spanish sausage], meatballs, lomo de cerdo [medallions of pork], garlic mushroom, patatas chilli and fries. I love the drinks here as well with strawberry daiquiri’s and sangria. The cost for the meal six tapas, fries, garlic bread, sangria, daiquiri, coke and a latte was £30.95. Which I thought was good value.

Brimham Rock

by amlapura

Away from Leeds, but worth seeing this natural place of awkward looking rocks. No entrance fee, but have to pay for the parking. My kids really enjoyed climbing the rocks. It's also located on a high ground, so one can enjoy good view of the surrounding area.

25 miles from Leeds. Worth going.

The Henry Moore Institute was...

by leeds

The Henry Moore Institute was formerly a group of neglected Victorian merchant's offices and warehouses in the centre of Leeds which were converted into an award winning gallery, study/research centre and library by the architects Jeremy Dixon and Edward Jones in 1993. In 1999 it was further remodelled to provide greater access and storage for the book, archive and slide collections.

The Henry Moore Institution is a part of the Henry Moore Foundation and funded by the Henry Moore Foundation and supported by Leeds City Council. Aims are achieved through a programme of exhibitions, talks, lectures, conferences, academic fellowships, artist residencies, publications and collaborative projects.

The Foundation first invested in Leeds when it set up the Henry Moore Centre for the Study of Sculpture in 1982, which had responsibility for the sculpture collections of Leeds Museums and Galleries. Since its integration into the Institute, the aim has been to build on Leeds City Art Gallery's outstanding collection of British 20th century sculpture by the development of complementary collections which represent and document the full range of sculptural activity in Britain, and above all in the period c1850-1950.
