Travel Tips for Leeds

Hyde Park

by Pichayada

Hyde Park, Leeds, is located next to the University of Leeds on Woodhouse Lane. It is used for relaxing, doing exercise, etc. In summer, there will be live concert that students always enjoy it. I used this place for playing tennis, cycling, having a picnic and Bar-BQ here during summer time. At the Hyde Park corners, left and right, there is a pub on each corner. Nice atmosphere.

West Yorkshire Playhouse

by Diosa about West Yorkshire Playhouse

One of the most diverse theatre's I have ever had the pleasure to visit, if you like the theatre, you'll love this place! Its best described as 3 theatre's within one big building, presenting anything from work by local and lesser known writers, to classical shakespeare. A true joy. Anything you want!

Pasta and a view

by BlueBeth about Casa Mia Millenium

Two of the things I love best in the world is eating and people watching. Here you can do both! As it's name implies it's on Millenium Square which is great for people watching, also as it's name implies, it's Italian. Great food, great wine, great service. What's not to like?
Boyfriend had mussels, to be fair he always has mussels but they were great. I had duck & bacon salad, only complaint was there was a little too much of it for a starter, especially for me. Picked a really good Montepulciano to wash it all down with :o)

Kirkgate market halls

by Airpunk

The kirkgate market halls are not only of interest for shopping but also for victorian architecture. The old market hall was built in victorian style and is nice to see from outside as well as inside. Leeds Kirkgate market is Europe's largest indoor market and offers everything from jewellery and fine food to more ore less useless items from far eastern production. The "good" shops are situated in the old hall from the 19th century while you can sometimes find some bargain items in the 1981 hall and the outdoor market.

Leeds

"My Home!"

I live and work in Leeds. I lived in Leeds most of my life. I'm very proud of Leeds and always like to show off my city.

Leeds played a key industrial role during the Industrial Revolution in the late 18th Century. This resulted in the creation of the Leeds/Liverpool Canal and a strong industrial business. With the industrial decline in the 20th Century, Leeds struggled with its identity until big regneration programmes took place making the city, once again, an attractive city with a proud industrial heritage for large commercial firms to invest in.

Leeds is renowned for its green space and is blessed with a number of parks including Temple Newsam House & Estate and Lotherton Hall and Bird Gardens.

Leeds has some interesting museums linking to the past, especially its industrial past, and present including Leeds City Museum; Abbey House Museum; Leeds Industrial Museum and Leeds Art Gallery. It has a great arts and entertainment with the wonderful Grand Theatre & Opera House.

Got loads to still update!!! Please keep checking!
