Great location

The City Lodge is a great budget type hotel situated right in the Heart of central Salisbury. We stopped here for just one night and were very pleased with the location and standard of room in relation to the price. The room was nicely decorated with a desk, chair, TV and free WIFI. The bathroom was clean and modern with a bath and shower. A really nice touch was a hospitality tray with the usual teas & coffee’s together with fresh fruit and bottled water. All in all we enjoyed our short stay here and would recommend it to anyone for a short stay. There is a short stay parking lay-by outside the hotel. There is a longer stay multi storey car park a few minutes walk away. Details of where to find the car park can be found in the hotel lobby.

Comfortable

We stayed at the City Lodge for just one night; the room was small but adequate and comfortable. There was a nice hospitality tray that had tea coffee, Apples, Biscuits, water etc as well as free wifi in all the rooms (essential for your average VTer.
The bed was comfortable and as our room was at the back there was no noise from the street, something that we were worried about as there is a student type night club opposite. Staff were friendly and in the reception there was more free fruit as well as maps of the city and the information for the nearest (and recommended) car park (There is on street parking but only for about 2 hours).

Unique Quality: The hotel is a 15th century Merchants House that has been restored.

What a Gem!

What a gem of a place! First of all, being greeted by a sweet, hospitable, young woman was just so welcome to us after staying at a pit of hotel in London--that alone merited some kudos! Second, our room was huge and fantastic! We had room #5, just off of the reception. It had the largest bathroom at the hotel (and in fact, the largest bathroom on my entire 3+ week trip), with a big tub. Yeah! (If only I had brought my bath salts ....) The room was very clean and quiet, all the staff were friendly, and it was in a great location within Salisbury--just a short walk to the Cathedral and the "town square". I just wish that we would have scheduled more time in Salisbury than the 1 night that we were there.

The only drawback to this hotel is that they do not serve breakfast. But, just a short walk from the hotel is the Red Lion Inn--they serve a fantastic breakfast buffet that you don't want to miss. I believe that it was 10.5 GBP for the full buffet with eggs, bacon, etc. (served at the table) and something like 6.5 GBP for the just the buffet.
