Dance studio. I go club cycling in the summer & when I’m waiting for all the other’s to come, you can hear the music blearing out the door; makes me tired just listening to them!

3 squash courts & 8 badminton courts, known as the orange light district because of the huge light’s they have shining down on the floor. You can also hire requet's.

Lower Bemerton

by LouiseTopp

Bemerton is on the western side of Salisbury (in the County of Wiltshire, UK) & is now thought of as a community of that city. Nevertheless within living memory Bemerton was a separate thriving village area, & it has a rich history. George Herbert, the well-known pious poet, was rector of Bemerton from 1630 until his death in 1633, & he wrote much of his work here.

Lower Bemerton is a small village about 1 mile from Salisbury. Once was out on the sticks, but now with housing developments; they seemed to have caught up with the village. So much change has occurred in Lower Bemerton. There’s still a post office in the village, but soon that will be gone, as the owners are retiring. There’s also a school called Bemerton St Johns in the village, been there since Victorian times. It has a little yard out the front with black railing’s, you can imagine the horse’s & carriages waiting to pick up the children, now it’s just cars. Their website is www.bemerton-st-john.wilts.sch.uk for more info.

Over the road is a church called St Andrews which has seen much change, if you look over the wall in Lower Road you can still see a hollow where a tall tree in St Andrews Church yard used to be. There’s a large graveyard & there’s also a cricket ground next door. There’s a much smaller church just down the road. In Lower Bemerton there’s a pub called The White Horse, it has a large car park at the rear with one bar.

Salisbury Cathedral (Cathedral of St. Mary)

by SLLiew

A beautiful Anglican cathedral built in the 11th century with the arches and stained windows with one of the highest spire in England.

There was an altar to remember the politicians of conscience of all over the world when I visited then. Not sure if it is still there.

It is amazing the height reached by the builders of this cathedral and the beauty and tranquility achieved in the interior. Definitely worthy of a stop to check out this work of architecture.

Wessex Shire Horses

by Lifestyles

Horse drawn omnibus for tourists. There are two rides to choose from, & both have been featured on TV.

The River Ride is a must as you have a leisurly ride along the city streets to Elizabeth Gardens & into the River! Here it is so peachful with only the ducks & cows for company, & the occasional Roach fish. The area is so very peacefull & the horses love it as it's so cooling in the summer, I should know as Hamish gave me a bath! There is also a waggon operating in Waymouth.

Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum

by Tolik

On the corner of the West Walk street in the King’s House you will find Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum. You can visit 10 galleries with important, award-winning displays of archaeology, new Stonehenge gallery, Early Man and medieval Salisbury collection. There are displays of costume, lace and embroidery, Wedgwood, ceramics, early photographs and paintings which include watercolors by Turner. If you would like to know more about local history than this is a place for you.
Pitt Rivers gallery focuses on the life and times of Keith Pitt Rivers, the father of modern archaeology who excavated many of Wiltshire prehistoric sites.

There is coffee shop and gift shop here too.
