OI! this is my hometown and i'll not have you slag it off!
so swindon may have a joke reputation and no redeeming features, but it's no worse than any other mid-sized new town full of re-located londoners. actually it is because no-one cares about live music. i can't believe that in a town of 180,000 people we have only a handfull of small venues, none of which are well supported. i bet it's nicer than milton-keynes though.
we have lots to be proud of. we have the famous 'magic roundabout' which is seven roundabouts in one including one that goes backwards. we lots of railway history with brunel and the like. it's all shut now though. famous swindonites include diana dors and various z-list celebrities namely billie piper, melinda messanger, marc lamaar and julian clary. you'll note that none of these people actually live in swindon any more, although diana dors can be forgiven by reason of being dead.
