Longleat - the other attractions...

by sourbugger

Longleat house operate a 'passport' system, whereby you can visit each of the attractions on the estate once - and you can do it on any day you like in a season. You can also by individual entry to each of the attractions for a few pounds each time.

I've already written about the house itself, the safari park, Postman pat's village and the boat ride - but there is more besides !

The minature railway runs by the lake, and makes an agreeable diversion. The 'old joes' mine' is somewhat disappointing 'bat experience'. The butterfly house does what it says on tin, as does the motion simulator and the children's fairground carousel.

The petting zoo is fairly well done, with a good range of animals and chances to handle the little critters (the aniumals not the children).

The passport ticket represents good value, especially if you can spread it over two days. On the other hand , once you have seen the house and the safari, the the rest of the attractions are not exactly in the same league.

There are also a couple of mazes - are rather simple mirror maze and a quite impressive 9it claims to be the world's largest) hedge maze.

The adventure playground is also well done, witha wide expanse of ropes, slides, mud and frames that should and over-active pre-teenager happy for a while.

Aqua Sana Spa at Centre Parc

by budapest8

Although I did not personally partake in the
spa activities, my sister and my bro-in-law did
go for a session! Bit pricey but they enjoyed it.

Aqua Sana Spa
aqua sana

Immerse yourself in the timeless luxury of our Spa. Stress just melts away as you abandon yourself to some of the most sublime multi-sensory experiences.
Finnish Sauna

Unlike our Tyrolean Sauna this wooden lined cabin developed in Finland has an automatic water spray onto the heated coals. With a temperature of around 70°C and a humidity of 60%, this experience is good for both body and mind.
Greek Herbal Bath

This is a very mild, gentle sauna, which infuses essences such as camomile. Water is then trickled over the heated herbs for inhalation. Soothing and calming, it can be a relaxing beginning to the Spa experience.
Ice Room

Take handfuls of ice flakes from the fountain and rub them all over the body. The ice stimulates the circulation, the lymphatic and immune systems and is a great stress reliever.
Japanese Salt Bath

This bracing mix of mineral salts and mint essence closely resembles sea air and is especially good for clearing congestion and helping you to breathe more easily. Sitting on the heated seats, the automatically injected jet of steam stimulates the blood circulation and starts the purifying and detoxifying process.

"Christmas 2005 in Wiltshire"

Just picture An eco friendly mix of glorified luxury Butlins,
A large Wiltshire Forest in Longleat Parc,
over 1,000 cabins or chalets, no cars almost,
inside swimming pools in a giant dome,
4,000 guests, 300 staff,
lots of resteraubts and bars, a place where the kids will never get bored,
the squirrels and moorhens are all around as well as other
wildlife like deer.
A 24 hour reception service.
own security force to police the grounds.
NO IT'S NOT THE ISLAND..LOL
It's Centre Parc
It is not cheap but I do
recommend it for parents with children!
