Travel Tips for Droitwich
Droitwich is the site of the swimming pool that was used in the Wychavon Tri-athlon that I competed in a couple of times, I didn`t do too well in the swimming and had to have somebody walk alonside me while I swam. A pair of trunks and goggles are essential for the swimming.
The town is known as Droitwich Spa and was town known to exist before Roman times. During the Roman occupation Droitwich Spa was known as Salinae - ‘The Place of Salt’. This was mined at first but very quickly water was pumped down into the salt and then forced up. The liquid was then boiled up until the residue which was left was refined and taken by pack horse around the country.
