If you go walking the hills, the weather can change in an instant. So take a warm waterproof covering with you. Insect repellent in summer is an advantage when hill walking and I recommend 'Autan'. Available from chemists and good supermarkets. Camera and binoculars for views from the top. A drink or at least a bottle of water is needed in summer when hill walking as there is no cafe at the top any longer. An 'OS' 1:25000 'Pathfinder' map No. 1018 may be useful, and a compass.
