Meathop Fell Caravan Club Site: A Little Too Organised....

We had arranged to meet with Nick's sister and husband for a night, them in their caravan and us in our motorhome. As they were already at this site near Grange, this was the chosen location.
It is a large site about 5 miles to the east of Grange. it is the usual Caravan Club rules and regulations place with both gravel and grass pitches. It was very busy, not what we like. We also got the feeling of being hemmed in as it was enclosed with no views.
It is obviously very popular with those who like to have full facilities laid on.
As with most Club Sites, you will always find the Wardens mowing the grass, cutting undergrowth ,back, generally, as far as I am concerned, disturbing the peace!!! (I just don't like large, expensive, full facility sites!!!)

Non-members welcome.

Unique Quality: Well situated for touring the Lake District and the western coast. Easy access from the M.6 for large units.

  • Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

Thornleigh: Limestone Buildings

This is more to show the limestone buildings which pre-dominate Grange.
This is actually a Christian Hotel, as far as I can remember. It has beautiful gardens and magnificent views across Morecambe Bay. It is proud to announce a passenger lift to all floors. It also has a coffee-shop open to the public from July 5th,--Tues-Sat.
Non-residents may dine at the hotel for dinner.

Unique Quality: It has it's own chapel.
