Great Ale and Food

We were staying in self catering accommodation locally for a week in June. The weather was stunning whilst we were there and every day we'd walk, hike or tour the local area. Each evening we would return to the Red Lion to sit and relax over a pint of their gorgeous ales. The whole athmosphere of the place is good. The Landlords and their team have a good sense of whats right in a pub. As the only Irish people visiting during many of the English world cup matches, he was quite amusing when we'd walk in! If you want to remain annoymous, this ain't the pub. If you want to sit and just enjoy the banter between locals, join in or not if you wish, this is by far our favourite pub in the village. We ate here three nights out of 7 (cooked for ourselves the other nights) and the food was 100% gorgeous. Wholesome, flavoursome and plentiful. Given the weather we had whilst on holiday, the outdoor seating was a godsend. We visited every other pub in the village, but this one was far and away the winner for us. If/When we're back in this area, we'll definitely be visiting the Red Lion again. Would we recommend it to friends - most definitely.

Unique Quality: Decent & plentiful out door seating. Friendly locals. Wholesome, flavoursome and great servings of food. Excellent selection and quality of ales. Landlords who know their business - they know what they do well, capitalise on it - they're not trying to be anything they're not.
Dog friendly pub.
