The twin room was small but clean. One mattress had a big depression and was past its best. We had a deal which included parking the car at the hotel for two weeks, which made it not bad value for money. We didn't use the restaurant.
I had to spend one night there lately and I would not recommend to anyone to do the same. For an airport hotel the rooms are unbelievable small and dark. The reception staff is not very helpful nor friendly. Breakfast buffet is barely eatable and the hotel is around one hour away from the city center.
The reception area gives the impression of a modern and nice hotel but after ypu stepped into the elevator you might think you are in a total different location.
Dont't stay there if you have any other options. It's not a place to relax before or after a long flight.
I don't ask for much from a Hotel, I really don't. A clean, comfortable room, a nice shower, agreeable staff that treat you like a human being.
Well, the Ibis had two out of three. The room was fine, and the bathroom clean with a good sdhower. However, the staff members really let it down. From the moment I checked in, I felt more like asn imposition than a guest. The receptionist was quite rude and abrupt - no smiles, no greeting and was more interested in selling their "favoured guest card" (at 130 per annum!) than checking a hot, tired traveller into his room!!!, She slapped down a form to be filled while she walked away. She then growled at me that there are no smoking rooms in the hotel at all (none? I enquired..she told me they don't have any AT all in that hotel, not just on that night!!!)Seems like a bit of a porky pie to me!
Bar staff were nice, but had trouble with orders. I gave up eventually and retreated to my room, and used the (expensive!) wi-fi.
There are better, friendlier hotels available at Heathrow, some of which may even be in the same price bracket. Choose them, because although the Ibis was technically fine, the staff really wiped out any good points. Go somewhere that the staff don't treat you like an inconvenience to their day.
The best thing about this hotel was the price we paid £69 for a twin room mid week but in hind sight I would pay extra for a larger room else where. The room was clean with basic facilities but everything you need for an overnight stay and the bathroom was an o.k. size and clean. But the room was so tiny and the two single beds were not even standard single size (IF you bring to mind a small childs first bed you will get the idea) THe beds were so close together that only the fact that the sheets were so tightly made around the bed stopped me ending up in my sisters bed! If I had rolled over the other way I would have been wedged
between the wall and my bed.
There was a hairdryer but you had to get it from the front desk and bring it back when you had finnished.
Staff were polite and check in and check out were not a problem.
Hotel resturant was expensive for standard of food but we had been out for a walk earlier and noticed a few places to eat and take aways about 10 minutes up the road but we were lazy so ordered pizza. had breakfast buffet and that was o.k. for the money.
his is strictly a one night only hotel (double rooms may be better but didn't see them) I have stayed in more comfortable rooms for similar money. The trouble is that a comfortable bed is one of the most important things a tired travller needs and this was the point that let the hotel down.
Stayed at the hotel for one night before an early morning flight. The Hotel room was basic , but was clean enough although not that roomy. It seemed well insulated from outside noise. But overall, was a ok for an overnight stay. It is also quite easy to walk from the hotel to the Bus Stops to catch the free service bus to the Airport if you don't have a lot of luggage, rather than pay the money to get the hotel hoppa bus which costs £3 one way.
