I was quite happy with the youth hostels. We kind of made a tour of the uk youth hostels, cause it was mainly were we stayed. Except in big cities, cause they were usually packed. We had a guide, so we could see were they were, and it explains how to get there. You also have the helpfull websites: www.syha.org.uk, for scotland and www.yha.org.uk for england and wales. Youth Hostels are definitely the best accommodation option in the UK. In the Highlands in Scotland, near a town called Dornoch, there is a Hostel whose premises occupy the site of a castle. Unforgettable experience! £10 a night! Leave a Comment Theme: HostelComparison: least expensiveDirections: All over, London and Scotland with the best options.

If you're into mountain activities, or just love nature and great walks, there's a great youth hostel (here i go again :) ) in wales, near the Cwm Idwal Nature Reserve. Good walking in the Carneddau and Glyder Mountains. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherComparison: less expensive than average

When in London and on a budget, traveling alone, looking to meet many people, especially if you are young a hostel is the way to go. I know I enjoyed my stay at Blue Mountain (at least I think that's the name of the place, though I could be wrong). I cannot quite recall the exact amount, but it was something along the lines of 15 British Pounds per night.
The staff was incredibly friendly, most everyone there was a smoker, the travelers themselves were chatty, and there was a certain level of individuality and freedom. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the sod all attitude it exuded. A nice mansion turned into hostel. Apart from just a hostel, there are also organised 'badger spotting' trips. The ONLY drawback is that it is at the foot of the hill whereas the Brontė parsonage and most other sights are at the top of it...I haven't got a photo of it so you'll have to make do with a photo of the Black Bull in Haworth where Branwell Brontė supped his ale every night. Jeff and I stayed in a very interesting hostel. It had vivid blue wallls, green & purple doors and it was very interesting! I wouldn't recommend it. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
