Lower Hyde Holiday Park: It is what it is.

It is fair to say that I don't like caravan holidays, with this in mind I will try and give a fair assessment of our stay here.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the site is run well, clean and tidy at all times

We tried an evening meal at Hudson's (the on site restaurant)
Everything was over cooked and quite crispy, not bad taste and a decent choice.
The tables were sticky and did not feel clean.
We had breakfast at the same table and it was still sticky.
Breakfast was ok but the beans were very dry and looked like that they were from the previous day.
Disappointing considering that Hudson's had a 5 Star rating with "scores on the doors"

An ideal site for familes.

The shop is there for all of your needs but it is a lot more expensive.

What we did not like with the nightclub was that early on they catered for the kids up to 9pm but they remained for the rest of the night.
I know that parents need to get away with their children on holiday, but in my own opinion, there is a point where as an adult, you need time away from them and should enjoy a night out without them around.

The site does have a shop however there are local supermarkets nearby that are of course a lot cheaper.
There is also a restaurant that serves breakfast and evening meals.
There is an amusement arcade and a nightclub.
An outside play area and pool with slide are provided for the kids.
This site is just short of a mile from Shanklin Old Town centre.

Note.
Wifi is available at:-
£4 per hour.
£12 for the day.

Needless to say, I did not use this service.

HARBOR VIEW HOTEL: GREAT LOCATION AND A FINE B&B

For 6 years, Esme and Bob Williamson have been running the Harbor View B&B in Ventnor. It's a wonderful place, immaculately clean and facing the water with great sea views. Bob and Esme are great host and hostess and made us feel right at home. The nearby Esplanade with restaurants, Minghella ice cream and the beach make it a perfect location. Ventnor, itself, needs a bit of sprucing up and I think the Harbor View and the new Hambrough Hotel are leaders in this attempt. We were very comfortable in a modern room with ensuite bath - a terrific shower and TV, too. What heaven as we heard the rolling waves as we woke up or went to sleep at night.

Great views of the sea... right at the Ventnor Esplanade and just a two minute walk into Ventnor itself. Breakfast was lovely, too.
