Archway Cottage or West Cottage: A perfect little cottage to feel at home

The cottage has two dates on opposite gables one reads 1862 while the other reads 1993. The first date was its first building as a 'model farm' another whim of the Duke of Sutherland, the last was its renovation into a holiday cottage. I didn't know about the first date till our return if I had I would most probably had nightmares - more about this on pages to follow. We had a very comfortable stay here with a home from home feel and all you could want in self catering accommodation. There are two cottages available the West Cottage (ours) and the South Cottage. The West Cottage sleeps two while the South Cottage sleeps four, if available you can rent the two cottages together making this a perfect family place to stay. The lounge is very comfortable with TV and mini hi fi player, attached is the full kitchen with cooking facilities and fridge and dining area. The bedroom was small but did have a built in wardrobe and the beds were really comfy. The cottage has a spledid, if unkept garden, which the dogs just loved and me too during my morning walks I was very tempted to do some gardening! The stable is where you will find the washing machine, rotary dryer and most importantly the key to your little cottage. so almost everything is covered for an enjoyable stay.

Unique Quality: The owner of this property lives just up the track and always appeared in the morning to collect his mail and newspaper from the postbox on the gate to the single track road which meanders its way along. If we happened to be around at this time he always asked how things were going and where we were off to that day. His local knowledge was sound and informative making our stay relaxed and busy at the same time.
