What a great hotel...

What a great hotel, room was lovely and breakfast was delicious, having stayed in the bay room overlooking Lynmouth, we found that the views from the room were beautiful.
So quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of menu.
Looking forward to staying there again in the near future. Don't wish to say too much as there are not many rooms & we may struggle to get re-booked when we go back!

Unique Quality: Found Jane and Richard to be very helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect.

Best on Exmoor

Overlooking the bay and harbour in Lynmouth, at the foot of the Glen Lyn Gorge, this hotel is ideally situated to take advantage of everything the area has to offer.
The owners are charming and endlessly helpful to their guests, and all in all it would be difficult to find any fault with Shelleys.
The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard, with comfortable beds, lashings of hot water in the shower, and expensive soft furnishings, but the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.
The area is riddled with stunning coastal walks and scenic footpaths, and there are breathtaking views at every turn in the road.

Across the road is the start of a walk in the Watersmeet Valley, following the river as it tumbles through mossy glades and sun dappled woods.
There is an extremely comfortable lounge and a cosy bar area, and if all you feel like doing is relaxing with a book and a glass of wine, it's there for you.

Unique Quality: Brlliant location
Friendly welcome
Excellent vallue

Perfect Exmoor Break

We treated ourselves to a stay at Shelleys in Lynmouth and quite honestly could not have found a nicer place.

The hotel was once a stop for Percy B Shelley the poet on his honeymoon with his child bride Harriett Westbrook and the hotel is full of interesting pictures and stories about him.

There are some wonderful walks in the area, we did the Lynmouth to Rockford and Beacon Tor circular walk as featured in the Scene magazine free in the hotel. If you do this be prepared for a very steep climb up Coutisbury Hill, but it is worth it.

If you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable break in the North Devon area then I recommend Shelleys without reservation.

Unique Quality: Centrally located in Lynmouth with views over the Lynmouth Bay Shelley's makes an ideal take off point for the Devon Coastal towns and the wilds of Exmoor National Park but Lynmouth has a great deal to offer as well.

The property is a delight, comfortable lounge and bar, superb bedrooms and the owners are an absolute pleasure, nothing was to much trouble and they were always on hand if needed.

No review could be written about Shelleys without reference to the excellent breakfasts served there, they are truly breakfasts to die for, from a full English to kippers or kedgeree it would be difficult to beat them.

Fantastic location with sea & valley views.
Well appointed lounge and dining room, both with lovely views.
Superb breakfast with a large choice of food for personal menu selection each day, so you are able to choose as much or as little as you like.
Many lovely touches, the bedroom well presented and furnished. Recommend unreservedly.

Exmoor Getaway

We had three lovely days at Shelleys, a few years ago we stopped at Shelleys for a couple nights and always promised ourselves that we would return.

Shelley’s is lovely with really great standards in a very informal way but Jane & Richard are always on hand if you need any help.

Large, comfortable beds with good quality furnishings and a few really nice touches and attention to detail that gave a feeling of luxury and breakfast really is as good as previous reviews say, hearty with plenty of choice

The best rooms are the conservatory balcony rooms, it was a fabulous place to sit and take in the splendid views. The extra we paid was fully justified, the rate was very fair and their Exmoor Breaks offer is excellent value.

Location is as central as you could wish for and Lynmouth makes a great base from which to explore Exmoor National Park, whatsmore there are lots of places to eat in the evening to suit all pockets.

Shelley's is very highly-recommended and having spent too many long hours in airport lounges we will definitely be returning next year.
