More about Longmead House
Place to relax
This was our second visit to Longmead House. As expected, we were warmly welcomed and found the accommodation to be friendly and relaxing. Our hosts took time to let us know about the local area, making our stay more enjoyable. We had lovely breakfasts and evening meals. We look forward to our next visit.
A Happy House in Lynton
We booked this B&B after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and were happily not disappointed.
When we arrived we were offered a filter coffee and our bags carried to our top floor room. Our room in the roof section though a little small was very tidy, clean and well lit with nice modern fittings and a king size bed. The bed was comfortable and had quality sheets and duvets.
Alan and Caroline made us very welcome and were willing hosts at all times, interacting with the guests throughout their stay. You felt like friend s rather than clients. Alan is a good cook with reliable quality breakfasts (and great poached eggs !!). They also offer evening meals and though we only took advantage once it was good quality. We would recommend the lamb shanks and he does the best mashed potato we have ever had.
Although having only been in the business since april this year they acted like seasoned professionals and we would certainly stay at their place if we visit the area again. The house is right by the Valley of the rocks and the coast path and road, so ideal for walkers who want a bit of luxury on the way.
Our only issue was our bedrooms heating, our room was never very warm compared with the rest of the house and they need to address this for the future, but a minor issue.
What a way to relax!!
My wife and I wanted a place to stay where we could visit the area and relax. Caroline and Alan have just the place to stay.
The arrival greeting was very friendly, with a cup of tea and slice of Alan’s home made cake....Delicious!!
The room was perfect with the cleanest bathroom I have ever seen, and having worked for many years in the hotel trade, I ought to know a clean bathroom!
The atmosphere was just right, formal enough to be very efficient, yet informal enough to feel that you were the most important guest they had staying.
The food was of a very good standard with the breakfast being a sumptuous feast, with fresh fruit, home made bread and a breakfast cooked when ordered, fantastic.
If your journey takes you to this area then it’s a must, no wait, if your journey doesn’t take you here, then make sure it does!!!! A 5 star treat in a 5 star area of the country.
We only stayed for 2 nights and 3 days at Longmead house. The short time we stayed there was lovely and Caroline and Alan Reeves are perfect hosts. The accommodation was very clean and we all felt very much at home.
Alans Cooked Breakfast should not be missed.
We are planning to return to this B&B in the not too distant future.
The Picture with this review is just a 2 minute walk from this B&B.
Fantastic Weekend at Longmead
I have just spent a lovely weekend in Lynton, Devon. Longmead was the perfect place to stay in this sleepy town. I arrived late on Friday night and was warmly greeted by Caroline and Allen and given a cup of tea. Breakfast both days was superb. The room was very clean and contained everything we could have needed. Longmead was warm and cosy on this rainy November weekend. Throughout the weekend Caroline and Allen couldn't have been more helpful.
Just the Best Ever B & B
Well done Caroline and Alan. We have never stayed in B & B's before, so were a little apprehensive about the standard to expect! We couldn't have been happier with our 3 night stay.
Our room was in the top of the house, and although rather small it was pretty, clean and very comfortable. Loads of clean fluffy towels plus tea/coffee making facilities, and fresh bottled water.
Our hosts were charming and couldn't have been more helpful, with places to visit etc. and a welcoming drink on arrival.
Breakfast delicious, from fresh juice to cereals, fresh fruit salad and fully cooked English - just great. Even homebaked bread and homemade marmalade.
We would definitely recommend it to friends and will be staying there should we visit the area again.
Loved Longmead House
A very warm welcome by the hosts Caroline and Alan when arriving mid afternoon. Room was very pretty, clean and lovely view and a convenient walk to the local shops, cliff railway to Lynmouth and more importantly, being a walker, to the Valley of the Rocks with its ferral goats and Exmoor ponies and fabulous coastal walks. Gorgeous. Longmead House itself is lovely, lots of character and very tranquil atmosphere - perfect for getting away from the madding crowds. Caroline and Alan are perfect hosts - nothing too much trouble and lots of information about the locality and what to do and how to go. The best brekkers every morning and fabulous home cooked evening meal. Very reasonably priced and would defo recommend whether you are a single, couple or on a romantic weekend. Love the fireplace in the dining room. Can't wait to revisit. DD West End.
First Class Hosts

We would certainly stay there again.

A perfect place to relax
I spent a few days at Longmead - It was just what I needed. A cosy place in an idyllic location. I really enjoyed jogging along the coast path (avoiding the goats) and marvelling at the amazing views. Caroline is so welcoming and Alan a great chef. They have good knowledge about walking the local area which was helpful and interesting. The lounge is large enough to be seperate from other guests but I really enjoyed meeting the family who were also staying and playing a game (there is a selection) with a praline liquer from the bar. My room was fresh and clean - nice biscuits! I look forward to spending a little longer next time.
Try it - you won't be disappointed!
My daughter and I stayed at Longmead House for the weekend. The welcome from Alan and Caroline was great. The whole place is run with attention to detail, rooms were spotless with everything you could want to hand. The breakfast was delicious. It is clear that care is taken to ensure the best quality ingredients are used and the freshly prepared fruit salad is particularly tempting,
From Longmead you can easily walk to the stunning coastal path and a variety of other Exmoor walking routes. If you are lucky Alan will give you some tips following his 'discover exmoor' course!
A place to relax and enjoy! We shall certainly return.
