March the weather will probably be end of winter. I would watch the weather reports and bring appropriate clothing. Always watch your perosnal stuff and carry safely. (watch out for pickpockets) If you act like a tourist they can spot you a mile away. Sounds like you are going to Germany. Beautiful country. Bring lots of money cause you will want to buy everything. Other than that just make sure you get to see as much as you can. You will be on US territory at RAF so they have access to everything American. Enjoy your trip. It is bascially the same rule you would apply going anywhere here in the states.

RAF Mildenhall is actually in quite a pleasant, if rather flat, part of the UK. There are lots of places to visit, but if you're based in Mildenhall it'll be easier if you can use a car..............maybe your son has access to one? There will be public transport though (certainly buses to nearby towns with train stations) so you'll be able to explore a bit. Bring clothes you can layer, and waterproofs...........it's not likely to be snowy, but the wind may well be cold and chilly dampness needs warm clothes, hat, scarf and gloves. You are unlikely to encounter any crime in most of the UK, but use normal common sense when in cities (especially in crowded areas such as stations and airports). Violent crime is, despite what one might read in the media, unusual and mostly tends to occur in areas not usually visited by tourists. I'm sure you'll really enjoy your visit (and seeing your son, obviously).

Travel Tips for Mildenhall

Not a Destination

"Drive by"

Mildenhall is not exactly a hot spot destination. It is a rural hole. Though the town may be fine for the natives who live in it, there is not much to offer visitors. If you must stop here don't expect much. You may run into a few Americans as there are two US Air Force bases very near by. The most interesting things the town holds are it's church (which may be worth snapping a quick photo of) and the odd town monument, a stunted gazebo type structure. It is floodlit at night and stands on the high street, yet no one can seem to explain it's signifigance. My advice would be to keep driving, more interesting places are not far off.
