More about Quality Hotel Edinburgh Airport

Very comfortable hotel

by TripAdvisor Member hippodreams

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We selected it because we had a late evening flight into Edinburgh for the start of our holiday. The room and public areas looked newly renovated. The room was very clean and the bed, although small, was quite comfortble. I was a little surprised that our room had no window. On the plus side, though, we didn't hear any airplane noise! The staff were great and the included buffet breakfast was very good and plentiful. One thing to be mindful of is that the hotel caters for tour groups, so it may be a little crowded. The night we stayed there it was quite rowdy until after midnight. Our room was near the public area of the hotel so not all rooms may be affected by this. The free car-parking was great as we had a hire car with us so we could just take off after breakfast the next morning. Also, it's only twenty minutes drive into Edinburgh, which was another plus for us.

Excellent choice !

My husband and I were flying out of Edinburgh with an early check in on Tuesday morning, 4th December. As the weather had been, and the forecast, not good, we decided to spend the previous night at an airport hotel. We chose the Quality Hotel for it's convenience and price and were not disappointed. On arrival mid afternoon, we checked in and found the room to be very comfortable, clean and quiet, although we had a good view of the airport runway. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. As we were leaving the hotel before 0800 we were asked what time we would like to be transported to the airport. We booked 0715 and that is exactly when we left. We were very satisfied that we were leaving the car in a secure car park which was included in our deal and it also meant that we could leave clothes worn for our journey to the hotel and for our evening meal in the car without disturbing our case for the flight. The meal was very good for both quality and value. We did not have breakfast as we were leaving early, but from what we could see, it looked good also. We would certainly stay in this hotel again as the return pick up was also punctual and there were no problems leaving the car park. One final point is that it is a completely non smoking hotel and anyone found smoking in the room would be charged a cleaning bill. Well done, Quality Hotels !

average ok hotel

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel - There is nothing special about this hotel, ...

Rooms are standard and clean. The heater did not work but a substitute was provided within 10 minutes, so no complaints about this. Furniture is in good condition.
Location is near to the airport, so useful if traveling in or out. Planes taking off can be heard in the hotel room with closed windows.

Staff was correct, polite but not friendly at the check-in. Staff at the restaurant was friendly but made some mistakes. The food is above average but not really good. Rates are ok.

There is a shuttle bus supposed to run every 20 min from the hotel to the airport and back - it kept us waiting 30 min at the airport until we called the hotel. It seems that one is on the safe side to immediately call the hotel at arrival in order to be picked up.

All-in-all: "OK"-hotel

A budget hotel at a four star price

by TripAdvisor Member uncletony

I booked a single room for £110+ per night (not including breakfast) and was allocated Room 133, a small room with two single beds. The bed was comfortable and the linen very clean. I suspect the room had been recently decorated as it was in good state of repair but the style and finish indicated this was a building some 15 years old. The small old TV was high on a shelf above the small vanity table and kind of difficult to watch comfortably. There were the usual UK stations available plus pay-per-view Movie and Adult channels. Heating was supplied by an electric panel heater and heated towel rail. Cooling was achieved by opening the window which overlooks the industrial-type buildings of the Royal Highland Showground.

There is complimentary tea/coffee provided on a small shelf with a small kettle. No fridge/mini-bar in the room, but bottle water is available from reception at GBP1.00 for 500ml!!

Bathroom was compact and very clean. Shower stall was a tight squeeze and the fabric curtain kept billowing up and did little to contain any water spray. The hotel doesn't provide soap bars but has horrible fixed-to-the-wall squeezy liquid soap dispensers

Resturant food was OK but expensive, maybe I should have ate in the lounge area and got the same food cheaper! Breakfast was VERY expensive - continental GBP7.50 and full cooked Scottish GBP 11.50.

I really expected a more polished offering for the price, but as there are only two hotels at the airport ( the other is a Hilton) they do have a take it or leave it hold over you.

If you're on a restricted budget this isn't for you - at an off airport location I'd expect to pay no more than GBP70 per night including breakfast for a hotel of this quality.

One night stay

In general, my review of this hotel is positive.

The hotel was very clean, all the staff were very helpful and the room itself was perfect for an overnight stay before flying out on holiday. They offer long term car parking which we took advantage of, though none of the staff seemed 100% confident about how this actually worked, which caused us some concern obviously. We were told 3 different things by 3 different people, so fingers crossed that our car hasn't been towed when we get back, but this is just a minor problem really.

The room itself was nice, it did look out over the car park, which meant we had to keep our curtains shut, but we didn't mind that really. We ate lunch and dinner in the hotel and both were excellent, though I will warn you that the starters in the restaurant are about the same size as a main meal, so not for those with a small appetite.

My only problem with the room at all was the bath, it must have been made for someone who was under 5ft 4 as I am 6ft and couldn't even get my legs into the bath, which didn't make for a pleasant experience. It was also very difficult getting out of the bath for the same reason and there were no hand holds to help you do so. This wasn't that much of an issue for one night, but if I had been there for much longer, I think it might have irritated me - not least because the shower was awful as well - it was one of those over bath things and wasn't exactly a powerful spray.

But, otherwise, the hotel was lovely and I would recommend it. One tip is that even though the room information says that you have to pay for a courtesy bus to the airport, it was free. Also, the nearest place to get cash out, is the airport.
