Malone Lodge Hotel (used with permission). by planxty I recently (February 2005) stayed here for a night. I was initially attracted by the fact that many of the other decent hotels in Belfast seemed not to have any single rooms, or at least they were a lot more expensive than the Malone Lodge. The room contained everything you would expect in a hotel of this standard, including possibly the largest bath towel I have ever seen! The bar is a fairly typical hotel bar, although pleasant enough. I must make special mention of the reception staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble - very well done. I have categorised this as less expensive than average. Obviously, this refers to similar hotels, as there is much cheaper accomodation to be had in Belfast.
Nothing particularly outstanding in the way of views, architecture etc, just a well-run hotel. The only outstanding feature is the attentiveness of the staff, typically a Northern Ireland trait anyway.
