What I plan do in a day and do people thinks it possible
by sparkieplug24
We will be in belfast for the day we are coming by cruise ship we are arriving at around 8 in Morning and Leaving at 11 that night. What we are planning is get off the ship at around 9.30-10 and head into city centre and do the red open air tour bus and go to the W5 spending around 1-2 hours here. We then think we will go to the zoo and then hopefully fit in some shopping before heading back to the ship in the early evening probably around 7. Does anyone have any comments on this or suggestion. Further do people think that it will be possible for us to do this.

If you want to see the real Belfast, do a black cab tour. Well worth it

It is all possible, how lovely to come in from a cruise. I am not sure what date you are arriving, but do wrap up warm, it is pretty windy and chilly at the moment. I am heading back for the weekend, and was there last week and it was a might nippy, compared to life here in Spain. I think your cruise will come in near the Odyssey where W5 is located. The Zoo is fun as well at this time of year, you can get a bus there from the City Centre. When you are going to the City Centre, you will enjoy visiting the Continental Market in the grounds of the City Hall, with food and crafts from fun places. I hope you have a wonderful time.
People always recommend a visit to the crown bar, a traditional style pub opposite the Europa hotel. There are a lot of great coffee stops, and most shops are open to 9pm for late night shopping coming up to Christmas. You will even get a peek at Santa in Castle Court Shopping Centre. Enjoy!

Hi
You are very welcome to Northern Ireland! When will you be coming? What are your interests? I have to second the nomination of the Crown Saloon. It is my favourite pub in the world. Check out its website. (http://www.crownbar.com/). The architecture and ambiance is incredible.
I think the key to visiting it is to not go during busy times (evenings).
Have a great visit!

I definitely think that your plan is quite feasible. I would second the recommendation for taking the Black Cab Tour. It is an excellent experience and the most informative. I will also put in my vote for the Crown. I had one of the best steak I have ever had there. As was mentioned in the above post, evenings are crowded but we rarely wait long for a table. The architecture is indeed incredible.
If you are coming in the late spring, the blooming foliage will be stunning throughout Belfast.

Travel Tips for Belfast
The Cregagh estate, East Belfast
by kranstonakov
A quick trip from the city centre will take you to the Cregagh Estate, an area not renowned for much. However here you will find the Home of George Best, the greatest footballer in the worl ever. There is a mural in dedication to George and gives you a chance to experience the rel side to Belfast in a local area. If you do make the trip head to the Rossetta Bar on the South of the estate, here youl see any football match thats on , you can play pool and foods bigger and cheaper then the city centre.
Why not take a trip around east belfast? The cregagh road, newtownards road and belmont road are all littered with shops restaurants and of course, bars and clubs! Get the 6A metro bus from the city centre to reach the cregagh.
A more stylish alternative
by kranstonakov about 10 Squre
ten squre is a hotel, bar and restaurant located in the heart of the city. It is popular with a more middle aged crowd and yuppies who think thyre important, but it has excellent decor and a brilliant selection of beers, wines and spirits. The staff are generally femal, generally attractive, generally foreign and generally up for it. Smart.
Hidden away near the Cathedral
by clivedinburgh about Nick's Warehouse
The restaurant is a converted warehouse in the cathedral quarter. There is a small bar area at the entrance and the main dining room is seperated from the kitchen by a glass wall so you can see your meals taking shape.
I dined here on several occasions and cannot recommend it highly enough. All ingredients are sourced locally where possible and the menu changes regularly.
Great dining everytime so difficult to pickout a favourite.
Queen's University

Most people just stop and take a photo of the beautiful Lanyon Building, and rightly so, it is a fabulous piece of architecture. However, you can spend a little more time here and wander around into the building to see the Black & White Hall or go up to the Naughton Gallery just above the entrance. There is also a visitors centre just to the left as you enter the Black & White Hall. If you go up to the Naughton Gallery, ask if you can peek out into the Great Hall - it's oh-so-Harry Potter with the neo Gothic style and all the past bigwigs looking down at you.
Step out into the leafy 'Quad' and walk towards the modern Admin Building. When you get there, turn around and enjoy a lovely view of the back of the Victorian Lanyon Building.
If you are hungry while you are there, you are only about a 5 minute walk from Common Grounds Cafe on University Avenue.
Pirate adventure golf
by catherineneill
A great day for the family - before heading to the ice bowl and something to eat (see other tips) adventure golf at dundonald ice bowl is great fun with some crazy settings here. Mini golf with a pirates theme
prices £5.50 £3.75 (under 11s) or £2.10 (under 2s) for 18 holes, anout double that for 36
