The Cat Garden
by St_Vincent
Within the Cave Hill Country Park and in the grounds of Belfast Castle you will find a circular Cat Garden which is nicely laid out with a pond in the middle. The name refers to a legend attached to the castle that says it’s residents will only have good fortune provided a white cat lives there. This legend is commemorated in the Cat Garden where there are apparently nine references to cats, some obvious and some hidden. Personally I only spotted seven and if you want to see them have a look at my Cat Garden travelogue.
La Lea
by catherineneill about La Lea
La Lea, Belfast's most prestigious nightclub, threw open its doors in 2001 and has enjoyed enormous success ever since.
This unique, elegant and truly impressive space has a sumptuous decorative style which makes reference to both classic design and modern innovation, with a rich seam of the exotic featuring strongly too. A large Buddha head presides over the dance floor, incense burns, and exotic flowers decorate both bars in the main club. The eminently stylish and utterly exclusive private members' bar is styled to mirror the interior of a Bedouin tent.
Everything from the sound system to the lighting in La Lea is state of the art. The quality of the surroundings, in terms of both style and comfort, confirm that the designers (Dublin based firm O'Donnell O'Neill) have more than met the brief given them - to make La Lea the most beautiful club in Ireland. A strict door policy ensures that the elegant interior fills up with Belfast's most stylish crowd, who know that they will be well looked after by the efficient and friendly staff.
the apartment
by catherineneill about the apartment
just beside the city hall the apartment has become a trendy place to eat. queues out the door at lunchtimes to get in, and you cant reserve a table no matter how many hints you drop about having a powerful relative. quite ood at nights as well, although the bar downstairs is quite small crispy chicken strips with chilli and mayo dips. definately!!!!
