Umbrella, ella, ella
by catherineneill
Oh come on, you're coming to ireland!! Expect lots of rain , sure thats why its so green! More often than not, if you bring an umbrella it WONT rain, so be safe. If you're going up the north coast make sure to bring an all weather rain coat-type-thing as you may get soaked up there! All good fun though.
The first Catholic church in Belfast.
by leics
St Mary's was opened in 1784 and was the first Catholic church in the city. At the time, there were 385 Catholics listed as living in Belfast.
There were no sectarian issues then...Protestants contributed to its construction, and the 1st Belfast Volunteer Company presented a guard of honour to the priest as he entered the church for the first time.
Next door to the church is a grotto and rose garden, created in 1954 and dedicated to the manifestations of Mary at Lourdes, Knock and Fatima.
The church is in Chapel Lane, in the city centre.
A statue in a bar?
by clivedinburgh about Northern Whig
This seems to be a converted bank and has a good layout with a small mezanine area above the main bar/restuarant.
The food in here is good and they have a projector screen for large sporting events (saw Czechs beat the Dutch in 04... great night)
Belfast Lough
by Catspjm
Belfast grew up and flourished as a port due to its position at the mouth of Belfast lough.
Due to the Ards peninsula (a 50 km long protective finger like protrusion that curves around the lough) acting as a protective wall, the waters are beautifully clean and are a haven for exotic sea life.
