Barnsdale Hall Hotel

Breathtaking Surrondings, the rest not so much

We arrived ahead of time so our room wasn't ready and we explored the outdoors while we waited. It has amazing green areas, great if you have small children and it has a lake on one of the ends, though you can't really reach it from inside of the hotel grounds, the view is pretty awesome.
It also has a great wildlife, as we saw dozens of small rabbits, birds and squirrels.
One of the negative points is that it doesn't have cleaning service, not even once during your stay, so if you run out of toilet paper like we did, you have to buy it. They do give you a nice starters' pack, with coffee, tea, milk, sugar and they even gave us detergent for the washing machine, which was nice. We were also very disappointed with the kitchen equipment, because we tended to do all our meals at home and for example the frying pan was terrible. We really couldn't cook anything in it.
Another thing we didn't like so much was the beds. I stayed in a sofa-bed and it was dreadful. It had springs everywhere and it hurt my back so I really couldn't sleep. Who came with me and stayed in the actual bedroom was also dissatisfied with their bed.
In spite of this, the lodge had lots of space and the bathroom was very good as well.

The people who attended to us in both check in and check out were very nice and helpful.
The reception lobby was also very well decorated and had a little coffee area where you couldn't serve yourself and then leave 1£.
