Well Located Oakham Hotel
I stayed at the Whipper-In hotel when my wife and I visited a wedding in Oakham in mid-2008. The hotel is located right in the center of town, on the market place. It's a great location, easy to walk to the few surrounding pubs and shops, and not difficult to approach by car.
There is parking available in front of the hotel, which if I recall correctly is time limited (and space limited!), but fortunately there is also a private hotel car-park at the rear of the hotel (off Burley Road) which is easy to miss if you are not looking carefully for it. Beware if you park in the market place, on certain days they setup the market early and if your car is there it might get towed away!
The hotel is a typical English village hotel. The building is old and has a lot of character, although the annex to the rear is new and more modern. The staff at the hotel were friendly, and our room was large and sufficient for our needs.
Breakfast is served in a room at the front of the hotel, and is a-la-carte. I enjoyed a fantastic full English breakfast, and my wife some toast and jam. There is no buffet, but the service and selection is great.
The hotel was not the cheapest option for us to choose, but was still reasonably priced.

The hotel is located in the middle of town. Our room was in the annex, it was very spacious. They had no buffet for breakfast but it was served at your table. No continental only the real English one, but you could have it as you pleased and could have as many toast, tea and coffee as you liked.
The 'lounge' was also a village pub with the characteristic low ceilings and beams.
Unique Quality: The hotel has its own, free parking facilities, behind the hotel. Very usefull because the space in front of the hotel was always full.
