On arrival the young lady at the reception offered to carry our luggage - despite my companion being a chunky guy. We were offered complimentary coffee at the bar - after we had settled in.
Our room was cosy and it was nice to find sufficient fluffy white towels & plenty of toileteries for 2 guests in the bathroom - it's amazing how many hotels seem to think you manage with one set.
Breakfast choice was varied (kippers, haddock, full english & more) and even a reasonable choice for vegetarians with the offer that if there was something else we fancied the chef would oblige.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel - but it is quite expensive with rooms starting at 130 pounds per night. We were lucky to obtain a last minute special deal and were more than happy with the facilities.
Check out their website for special offers. The owners have a wicked sence of humour which is evident on the website & in the room hotel guide. For example they will even supply you with a ghost ......
Unique Quality: It had all the trimmings that a guest would find in a 4* hotel such as a complimentary newspaper, tea (a real tea pot supplied) & coffee facilities in the room - but with it's own added extra personal touches.
* A DVD player in each room with varied collection of DVD's could be borrowed free of charge from reception.
* Complimentary bottled spa water.
* A huge fruit bowl on the landing to which guests could help themselves from - hmmm those strawberries were lovely.
I also heard that some rooms have baths large enough for two :-)
Directions: Under the arch - oppossite Boots. There is ample parking at the hotel.
