This is a popular place for families to go for a weekend as it has a leisure club with big pool and also childcare facilities, with a kids' club and early dinners for youngsters if required.

You will also get a good meal there, although be aware that the table d'hote menu isn't very flexible - you still get charged the full price even if you only have one course.

However, the place leaves a lot to be desired in other aspects. The service from staff is far from great as most of them are about 15 year olds and paid considerably less than the minimum wage. Perhaps something to mention to the management when you leave! Rooms will be clean and comfortable but don't be surprised to see paint coming off the walls etc.

Unique Quality: The view from the front door is great - right across the Trossachs and the mountains nearby.

I recommend phoning Hotel Connections on 01786 825407 if you would rather not pay the Hilton's full price rates it quotes on its website.

Directions: Follow the B8033 whether you're coming from north or south. Look out for the purple Hilton signs on the east side of the road as you continue through the town. They have a mini-van pick-up/drop-off service from the railway station.

just fantastic

by TripAdvisor Member nessie35

we have just returned from a 5 night stay in the dunblane hydro and had a fantastic time. we were staying on a special rate as our friend works for hilton and secured us a good rate as it was my birthday while staying there. we should have been in the modern building at the back of the hotel but we got an upgrade and ended up in the main part in a lovely room facing out the front.
i have no complaints about this hotel at all and im very fussy! nothing was too much trouble for them at all. my boyfriend had arranged for a bottle of wine to be in the room for us on arrival and it was there. he also arranged the birthday package for me which consisted of champange, cake and balloons which was delivered to my room by the manager which was a lovely touch. nothing was too much problem for them at all.
the upgrade is fantastic. all public areas are sumptious and very posh. the staff are extremely friendly and get to know you very well. we were lucky to be there mid week when i think there was only about another 10 rooms occupied so we had lots of attention! on friday and saturday night the hotel was very very busy and they had to open up other areas of the dining room. i have noticed on previous reports that people have not been too happy about the service well i can say that it was great. even on the sat night when it was full, we were served quickly and efficiently and they were always ready with a smile and a joke.
the food was good with about 6 choices for each course. i see it is now a 'nick nairne' restaurant and the food did reflect this. if you did not like anything on the menu then there was always a nightly special which you could pick. i must admit that after 5 nights of eating there i was hoping there would be a change of menu but this didnt happen. the quality of food was fab though and it was always served promptly and hot.
the breakfast was also great although i always ate the cold buffet, the cooked breakfast looked great.
if i was to have any complaints then it would be that if you are on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate then watch out for the fact you only get £21.50 towards your dinner and after that you have to pay the rest. considering one of the dishes is £22.50 then it could be expensive after that by the time you have wine, and i felt that the walls were a bit thin as i could hear my neighbours conversation through the wall and above the television! wasnt expecting that nor the crying that could be clearly heard too at 1am!!
the spa centre is due for upgrade this year and i think the work starts at the end of jan. we certainly used the gym and pool and found it adequate but the changing rooms were very dated and unclean looking although the pool was lovely. i had 3 treatments while i was there and they were great with lovely staff. im told there is going to be a seperate level for massages etc and 8 treatment rooms. i think this will be a great asset to what is already a outstanding hotel.
i would definately go back and had a good birthday there. i recommend this hotel to anyone and its if definately worth the money!

I agree with most of the other reviews, the hotel itself is lovely. We had a 3 night break between Christmas and New Year and there was snow everywhere. It was a realy Christmassy atmosphere outside although inside the hotel didn't feel so Christmassy a few Christmas Trees but that was okay.

Rooms excellent as was all the staff. As has been previously commented the food service was very poor although there were lots of young staff rushing about, seemed no organisation whatsoever. The menu was poor with the same menu with 4 choices every day. The first night the food was tasty enough but after that it went downhill.

On our last night we arrived 5 minutes before our booked time and asked to go and sit elsewhere for the 5 minutes! We were then shown to our table, had to try and get someone's attention to take our order and then we waited 30 minutes for a plate of Parsnip Soup which had not particular taste. By then our evening was wasted and we had to catch someone's else attention to get our mains course which was of a terrible standard lamb on a bed of mushy peas and browned fondant potatoes YUK! Followed white chocolate brulee YUM!

Managed to see the Restaurant Manager who admitted that service wasn't acceptable and that the menu would be extended in the New Year - I hope so.

Breakfast was excellent, self service and everything was tip top and again yummy.

Fantastic hotel and staff for our daughter's wedding

by TripAdvisor Member CTripperUk

We held our daughters wedding reception at the Hydro and stayed with family before and after the wedding. We were impressed with the dedication of the staff and delighted with the food and organisation throughout our stay. The hotel had gone through a total refurb and was absolutely beautiful, our daughter and her husband to be were thrilled with all that was done for them and enjoyed the whole event from start to finish. Our guests travelled from all corners of the UK and all were delighted with their stay.
My husband and I are hoping to stay again this August as we are attending the Tattoo.
Looking forward to being pampered again.
