3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I never have to book in, but...

Since I live near I never stay - but here is some info - round the edge is a Travelodge, a Travel Inn and a Holiday Inn Express - only the latter is walking distance (ish) to the town - many B&Bs especially along Causewayhead Road - Stirling Highland Hotel (in the former High School) is the poshest choice. The Youth Hostel is pretty new (in an old building) - also check Willie Wallaces Backpackers - bang in the centre.

The main picture is of King St from outside the Thistle Centre (shopping). At the clocktower the fork on the left leads to the Stirling Highland Hotel (just visible) and the Youth Hostel. Other tourist sites and eventually the Castle are further on. The Golden Lion Hotel is on the right of King Street and there are several bars and restaurants around the Steeple. From this point tourist info is around 200m left, Willie Wallaces 200m right.

The second picture is the Express by Holiday Inn taken from the Muirton roundabout. From the back there are views to the Ochils and towards Wallace Monument. Current rates (2005) are £75-£79 per room per night (incl breakfast) which seems a bit steep to me.

Third pic is the Premier Travel Inn, which is passed on your way into Stirling from the South, about 800m after the Pirnhall roundabout. Just next to the Pirnhall Brewers Fayre. Upper rooms may afford a view over fields, even to the mountains (lower rooms, the car park).
