The Byre theatre is a lovely little theatre in St Andrews and hosts a variety of professional and amateur plays, musical theatre, comedies, dance, opera and music to suit all tastes. Their programme is available from the Byre theatre or from the tourist information office.
The Byre also has its own restaurant and bars and is a popular meeting place.

St Andrews Castle, Mine and Countermine

The mine and countermine dug during the 16th C were rediscoverd in the 1800's.
It is still possible to descend the counter mine from the castle grounds and proceed to the chamber where the mine was intercepted.
It is very cramped and damp down here though and it is not one for the faint hearted.
It is however well worth the effort

Culross Palace

Culross Palace stands at the heart of the well preserved village of Culross, which appears frozen in the 16th century.
The palace was actually more of a local landowners dwelling than a Royal Palace.
The palace has been restored to its origianl condition, includng the mustard colours and shutters by the National Trust for Scotland.
Admisssion fee of £8.00 includes entry to other historic buildingd in the village.

"Old St. Andrew's"

Ask a stranger, what is St. Andrews about and they will probably say either, GOLF, or maybe, that's where Price Will went to school.

But Old St. Andrew's is so much more. What an incredibly lovely little town. The ruins of the old Church are definitely worth a visit. You can feel the ghosts of lives that lived in years gone by.

The old Cathedral is mostly ruins now as the stones that were used to build it have been taken away to build more modern edifices.
