Stay in a Castle in Aberdeenshire - Whisky Trail
Set in the heart of the Grampian Highlands, overlooking the ruins of the original 13th century castle, Kildrummy Castle Hotel offers a rare opportunity to enjoy the style and elegance of a bygone era combined with all the comforts and service of a modern, first class hotel.
This is a first calss hotel that you can see right from entering. All of the staff are similarly dressed in traditional Scottish clothes. They then invite you to visit the magnificant gardens on site. This is an attraction in its own right, but you get to visit free if you are staying there. Then y ou must head just down the street to the official entrance to the ordiginal Kildrummy Castle. It is a stop on the castle tour and is very impressive. You will proably have a great view of these ruins right from your room.
The rooms here are nice and they give you a robe. Not the nicest room, but the best hotel overall. They have a great library, lounge and drawing room. I am not even sure what the difference is between all of them!
And the restaurant was fabulous!!
This place is such a dream, you feel like you are really in the past. They don't even ask for a credit card when you register. Before dinner each night, you meet in the lounge where you peruse the menu and order. Oh, and a fabulous wine list! After dinner you are served coffee, tea or coktails in the lounge where you can chat with other guests. I can't tell you how special this was.
It is also right in the middle of the castle trail and the whiskey trail. Base yourself here for a few nights and explore!! It's a castle!!
