Big room - bit messy tho'! by iaint Opened in 1980, but clearly renovated recently. 4 star rooms and public areas. It has a pool and gym, but we didn't try. Excellent buffet breakfast. The rooms were large and quiet, the aircon worked and really the place could not be faulted from the service point of view. Both my friend and I have worked in the hotel business, so we are very hard to please when it comes to working out quality and value for money. Its 5 miles (7km) from the city centre, and whilst Dyce is fine for trains and buses, it might not be ideal if you don't have a car. The airport is close by, but because of the runway direction the hotel does not suffer from noise. It runs a shuttle to the terminal. We did hear the helicopters when we opened the window, but its nothing dramatic and it was quiet at night. £59 per room! Breakfast is £14.95 per person....making the real rate £89 for 2. Still great value.
Quality of the accommodation. Customer service - they mixed up our breakfast charges (and I can understand how it happened), but readily sorted it when I flagged it up. When booking I requested non-smoking rooms, on an upper floor and with foam pillows; we got the lot! They even gave us interconnecting rooms, so my son could come in and bother us whenenever it was inconvenient. I'm sure they meant well... Well done Marriott.
