Great Place for Conference Meeting & Schools

The Thainstone House Hotel offers great opportunities to Schools and indeed business corperates, what a strange mix, our Primary six class and three other schools from the local area had a great time here on a team building exercise rampaging through forty acres of fine meadow land. We didn't stay here but my husband has, well who would want to spend the night with noisey school children, but it is a nice = a fine Palladian Mansion.

Unique Quality: The Hotel provided an excellent barbeque lunch and great fun in the welcoming atmosphere

was at a wedding there recently at a cost £6000 . the drinks reception went well, the dinner was not the best in the world, and halfway through the evening the assistant manager(marina) tried to out-book the brides mother and bridesmaids appaling to say the least!!!! nobody from this wedding party will ever be visiting thainstone house again.4 stars i dont think so, if they were to be rated again they would not even manage 2 stars!!!

Brilliant Christmas

by TripAdvisor Member seasonedtraveller8

We have just returned from a wonderful Christmas break at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone. Our room was large, well furnished and had a spacious bathroom. It was kept spotless and was lovely and warm. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water and biscuits were topped up every day. All meals were delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. The Christmas atmosphere was helped along by the two lovely roaring fires, one in the bar and one in the Drawing room, which were lit at all times. A thoroughly memorable Christmas in beautiful surroundings.

Fantastic service

by TripAdvisor Member tamborine2003

My husband, daughter and self stayed at the hotel for 5 days. We had a truly lovely time. The hotel is old, so please don't expect mod cons. It is a beautiful old building set in beautiful Scottish countryside. The staff are probably the loveliest and most hardworking staff I have ever met-nothing is too much trouble.

We had a problem with our shower in the room and the lack of information in the rooms and around the hotel, this was brought to the attention of one of the managers who immediately set to rectify the problems. The hotel is apparently undergoing a change of management and they are aware that some things need changing-this is being done.

The food was amazing, the rooms lovely and clean and old. This really is a lovely hotel, with open fires and period features. Only go here if you love original features, the smell of wood, and can tolerate the worn look.

I feel that sometimes we are all too quick to critisise and therefore some of the reviews on here really don't do the hotel or it's lovely staff justice.

Go and see for youselves
