Get a Kilt Made in the Aberdeen Tartan
by scottishvisitor
The Aberdeen Tartan was designed for the City and the rural hinterland. The city was granted a Royal Charter by William the Lion in 1179. There is a kilt hire shop MaCaull's in Aberdeen but they don't have this tartan but the Kilt Makers Alexander Scott will make up this tartan for you.
If you want some space to relax by yourself...

Find St. Machar's Cathedral to the north of Old Aberdeen and head down the path into Seaton Park. The first thing you see are very formal rose gardens; carry on. When you reach the river, pause for a while and you'll see some pretty unspoilt wildlife which can include herons and other birds you wouldn't expect in the city. Carry on up the hill and to the right as if heading to Bridge of Don. Up the slope to the right of the main path is a beautiful and almost always empty walled garden, perfect for just relaxing in. Back to the path and you can continue to charming little Bridge of Don.
A spooky Night
by Kevross85 about Slaines Castle
Slains castle is a bar whichis designed to be a spooky old castle. It is part of the eerie pub company chain. It is a really good place to hang out and to get drunk in. They sell lots of different shots and they are famous for there seven deadly sins cocktails. If you drink all seven cocktails you get a free tshirt saying I've done it have you? and also a free cocktail of your choice.
Another favourite is the trays of test tubes which are sold nightly. They come in various flavours ranging from cheeky vimto to tequila sunrise
Although this isn't a place to finish your night it is definitely worth spending some of your night Casual dress code and of course fancy dress is welcome
Upmarket Hit & Miss Restaurant
by saracen about The Square
A nicely decorated and designed restaurant just off Union Street, the inside of this fine old granite building is beautifully decked out in wood panelling with nicely crafted furniture and unfussy decorations. I have eaten here a number of times and the service varies from being efficient and rather formal, to being quite inattentive and formal, but never particularly friendly.
The food was always the main attraction - the menu is a mix of hearty Scottish meals and international fare, all priced at the higher end (veggie main courses from around 9 GBP, meat based ones up to around 15 GBP).
My last foray there was a disappointing - the soup was bland, as was the lamb tagine. Admittedly they were very busy and we hadn't booked so we were grateful that they managed to squeeze us in. The cappuccinos are very good, although a bit steeply priced.

Go to Kings College. It's really beautiful, and there's a visitor centre with a really nice cafe (it's a bit expensive, but they do a student discount).
The building that now houses the visitor centre used to be the university library, and it's a lovely old building. Although there are some pretty awful modern buildings here too now, the old ones are really worth seeing.
