Coylumbridge, Aviemore, SC PH22
Rooms were good. Service a bit slow in restaurant - I think we were on half board, so captive customers. Location is great - in forest about 2 miles from town.
Lots for kids - swimming pool etc.
Unique Quality: Child friendly!
Directions: Turn right as you come into Aviemore from the south, then follow road for a couple of miles.
More about Hilton Coylumbridge
Up market travelodge
We spent a couple of nights at the Hilton, Coylumbridge in late June 2006- after winning 2 free nights in a draw! First impressions - nice with lots of semi-wild rabbits roaming the grounds, but really just an up-market Travel Lodge. Room basic, no fridge. Pool OK, but easily filled by the masses who also frequent the hotel. The most disappointing aspect was the dining facilities - the tables were cafe-like and the whole atmosphere was canteen-like/institutional - i.e. pile them in, feed them quick, out in under 45 mins. The food was minimalistic in volume, but service was very friendly. In contrast - breakfasts were good - help yourself to as much as you want - from haggis to croissants.
We got this free - and lots of people were on cheap offers - for us and the people on offers it was fine. I would not recommend paying full price for accommodation or meals.
Not good at all
terrible. Romantic break
Adjoining room with only a wooden door with gap at the bottom separating our space from the connected one. If we could hear every word on the tv what could they hear us doing?
Complained, no room except pungent smoking rooms. Travelled 3 hrs home rather than stay and pay.
Recent reviews show this is still family hotel, which is great if you want to know what your kids are watching on t.v but not so great if you are a young couple.
Hotels should surely know an adjoining room is not acceptable for anything other than families.
Very poor quality rooms also. Would not stay here again.
Disappointing as I do like Hiltons and have had no problems anywhere else at all.
hotel booked on phone & advised we had a small dog. No problem they said ! When we got there, they wanted £25 for the dog. The dinners were very poor. The veg. was almost raw. The rooms were like a 1950's motel, which at Hilton prices was shocking. Place should be bulldozed and rebuilt. Staff were friendly and helpful though.
Nice forrest walks and scenery. A visit to the "Landmark Centre" at Carrbridge is a good day out - especially if you have kids.
Simply a one night stay, dinner, bed & breakfast, for a Father's Day treat, but everything was perfect. Lovely rooms, excellent food, great service from every member of staff we came in contact with, and rounded off by some great entertainment in the bar after dinner. We left feeling we'd had a real treat.
Sure the rooms are not spacious, but they were well furnished, and having two double beds in each room of course eats up the available floor space. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful location so we had a good night's rest in genuine comfort. Will definitely return whenever we feel the need of a short break away from the rat race.
The hotel does cater for young families, but with high teas for children served in a separate restaurant, there was no disruption to our main evening meal. And the toddlers dancing to the band in the evening was a real laugh.
Leave Your Taste Buds At Home
I wished I had read some of the other reviews on this place before unduring it myself. Hilton should hang their head in shame.
Before I get to the negatives, I will start with a positive - the staff are fantastic. I only have pity for them having to work in a run-down place such as this.
By far the worst element of our stay was the evening meal. One of my party remarked "it's like the food you get at a bad work's Christmas do". How true. The food is quite obviously pre-prepared and low quality. It soured what should have been a fine family occasion.
To be fair breakfast is a far better afair, with a wide array of choice.
The room we had was in desperate need of a makeover. Stain up the wall beside the bed, grout missing from the tiles in the bathroom ... the list goes on.
Without going on and on, this place needs to sort itself out and fast. If you are reading this Mr Hilton, go and take a look yourself and take some P45s for the management.
