Tigh Tasgaidh B&B: Tie-Tishy B&B - Highly Recommended

Dornie is a lovely little village in the Highlands, just before going over to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye. Tigh Tasgaidh faces the shores of Loch Long with views to the Isle of Skye. It is a typical Scottish house - I would say Georgian in style. It is furnished very graciously and includes paintings of the owner's ( Louise Gordon) family.

I had a bedroom upstairs with ensuite. It was a beautiful, bright, and very clean room. It was painted a light blue and had white furniture. Louise had put a small vase of magenta asters in the room and it was a gorgous combination of colors ... a wonderful touch.

The breakfasts are huge, delicious and as much as possible, organic, using local produce. I had the traditional Scottish oatmeal with bacon and toast, but, one of the other guests had requested the Continental breadfast... and it was huge! There was enough cheese, salmon and fruit for 3 people.

Unique Quality: Because Dornie is such a tiny village and off the main roads, Tigh Tasgaidh is very quite and peaceful.

Next door is the Post Office and small grocery store and beyond the Dornie Hotel which has a dining room which is No Smoking.... thank goodness because the bar was blue with smoke.

The famous Eilean Donan Castle is just a short walk away.

Be aware that Louise does not take credit cards, so, bring pounds!!
