Travel Tips for Fort William

by sim1

Here is a map of where we are now, the enchanting village of Inveraray. It is situated on the shores of Loch Fyne. And it is about 60 miles North-West of Glasgow on the A83.

Not only the castle of Inveraray is worth a visit, but also the little village of Inveraray itself. We stayed here for a while to look around and enjoy the atmosphere of this little village.

Back in Devon! Wow, was I glad to be here after that long journey. This is me in Honiton, where we visited our friends Terry and Vivianne. We had a wonderful New Years Eve.

The vacation is at an end. Devon.... hmmm, makes me think : I still have to write my stories about Honiton and Devon. I have been here so many times. But that is going to be another time and another page....

Cable bridge in Steale Gorge

by frank_delargy

If you drive or walk to the end of Glen Nevis, you can walk through Steale Gorge about a half mile past great views of the Nevis River as it rushes through the gorge on your right. Eventually you will get to a fantastic wide glen with a great waterfall (Marestail Falls). To get over the river to the wterfall, you will need to cross a rope (cable) bridge. It is quite a lot of fun to do this.

Ben Nevis

by stevezero

The town is overshadowed by Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. At some 1344m tall, it is not Everest, but still impressive by our standards. It is also very popular, and in the summer it is not too difficult a walk to the summit.
It is not to be underestimated though and people do die up there, especially in the winter when the weather is very changable.
The peak is covered in snow for much of the year, as it was in April when we were there.
