I certainly would not recommend this hostel. I came to the hostel with a group of friends for a walking weekend. 2 people were unable to make the trip, 6 days notice of this was given but we were still fully charged for their stay while the hostel re-sold one of the beds in our room.
There was no one on reception in the morning to give any advice or information or tell us about breakfast in the morning.
We arrived back after our walk soaked to find the heating didn't work and on informing staff, no effort was made to fix the heating. We had booked in 10 people on the 2nd night and one of those beds was also re-sold leaving us less a bed for a person. On informing the manager of this my friend was then treated disgracefully. The manager would not listen nor discuss the issue nor admit that he was in the wrong and was very disrespectful to her.
This is the worst hostel I have stayed in due to their appalling customer service.
Stayed June 2011, travelled with friends
If you are on a budget, there is a great place to stay around the Fort William area (Corpach) called Farr Cottage. The owner, Stewart ( I hope I spelled his name correctly!) is great fun and very knowledgable about scotch whisky. I was there in a group and we had a dorm room with en-suite bathroom. There is an in-house pub and we stayed up till the wee hours doing a pub quiz and playing games. There is also a great cook on the premises, and you can purchase meals there. I also remember that there is internet access as well. The staff can also help with arranging activites in the area. I recommend having a look at the website for further info.
Unique Quality: Great hosts, homey feel, and you don't even have to leave if you want to have a pint!
