A bonnie hotel in the highlands
by pilgrim55 about West End Hotel, Fort William, Scotland
The West End Hotel is located right on Loch Linnhe on the outskirts of Fort William. One can see Ben Nevis on a clear day (if there is one) nearby.
We had a spacious room with a lovely bathroom and all the conveniences. We almost felt we were back in the states. Every night we had a sumptuous meal with the other folks on our Wallace Arnold tour, who were all Brits and people from Wales.
There was also entertainment several nights in the bar and lounge after dinner -- featuring local Scottish talent.

We are planning on being in Fort William, Highlands, Scotland, area for 2 days and would appreciate suggestions for 1) lodging and 2) how to structure our time. My husband is a good photographer and is interested in the best places to take pictures. Thanks!

Hi,
We where in Fort William in May of this year.
We where with some friends who where downhill mountain biking on the world cup downhill course there (photo opportunity!)
We walked up Ben Nevis which is the highest mountain in Britain and has some amazing views on the way up.-5 on the summit though!
There is a Gondola which serves the downhill course if your not into walking/climbing.Plenty of reasonably priced hotels in the area.

Hi there,
I am a keen photographer as well and some of the best photos I have from Scotland were taken in Glencoe which is approx.15 miles south of Fort William.
The scenery and the wildlife are excellent.
There is a nice Inn called The Clachaig nestling in the heart of Glencoe, excellent accommodation and food at a reasonable price, see website www.clachaig.com
Glencoe village nice as well.
Hope you have a nice time
