With heart and soul I would...

With heart and soul I would recommend the Torguish House to anyone who is staying in the Inverness area of Scotland. Formerly the childhood home of Allistair McClean, the country home exudes charm from another era. Conveniently located on A-9, this bed and breakfast truly exemplifies old world charm. The owners are a wonderful couple with engaging personalities. The gentleman of the house seemed distant and aloof our first day in Inverness, but by the next morning, he had lost that seeming distance and was a witty and funny host. He will pick you up at the train station and assist you in getting a rental car, or for longer visits, he will help you to buy a cheap car to get around in while you are visiting. I know this sounds like a commercial, but they truly did make you feel welcome in their home.
I don't recall the exact price, but I believe it was in the vicinity of 35 pounds a night.

Unique Quality: The childhood home of Allistair McClean in a garden/country setting. It is quiet yet within minutes of all the activities in Inverness. It is a quite comfortable base to explore the feet of the highlands, and is also not out of the question as a base for longer forays such as trips to the Orkneys or Shetlands.
