More about The Old Manse
We have just returned from a fabulous stay in The Old Manse. Julie and Martin are both so enthusiastic and it was a delight to stay in their wonderful b and b. The bedroom was so beautifully appointed and a lovely bathroom, we even managed to see a deer from our bathroom window. We were handed a picnic of coffee, tea, homemade cream scones and shortbread all complimentary. We have never been offered a picnic before and we have stayed in many b and b’s here and abroad.
What a beautiful place the "Old Manse" is.
Everything about this b & b was wonderful, not a bad thing to say.
The welcome you receive is second to none and your made too feel so special.
Not much in Invermoriston but Fort Augustus is close by and is a lovely town.
Memorable stay for all the right reasons
Stayed for one night in May at the Old Manse and it was a fantastic stay. Julie and Martin made you feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to anyone and hoping to visit again soon.
Paradise on a hillside.
We cannot fault our stay at the Old Manse. The rooms were luxurious, the beds so comfortable, and our hosts Julie and Martin were the friendliest people you could meet. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they had thought of everything in the small touches. We had dinner on one night and the cooking and service was wonderful. We left feeling chilled and rested and cannot wait to visit again.
A wonderful place
We chose to stay for 3 nights at 'The Old Manse' because of the good reviews we read and we can confirm they and everything you see on the website are all true!
Julie and Martin are wonderful hosts and their home has 'Raised the Bar' regarding B&B's. The rooms, house (bathrooms fantastic) and food are exceptional, we are sure you will not find better anywhere in the UK,
There is a hotel & bar next door with chatty landlord (Paul) and a great selection of whiskies (ask how much first as some very rare)
Great location for Ness and local sightseeing and we also drove to John O Groats (great roads and very scenic, well worth the trip),
Julies cooking excellent and the breakfast menu fantastic (try the salmon & scrambled eggs) and Martin has got us onto Earl Grey tea
Lots of little extras like picnics for your days out and petals & chocolates on the bed made us feel really welcolme
Our rating is 10 out of 10, you will not be dissapointed
If we had to choose one place to stay in the whole of Scotland, The Old Manse would win hands down. The term B@B is totally insufficient to describe this wonderful place run by the lovely duo Martin & Julie. The luxurious accommodation set in beautiful landscaped gardens with a backdrop of pinewoods,(if you're lucky you will spot the pinemartins) together with unsurpassed hospitality and superb cooking is second to none. This is a very special place to visit and return to. p.s. love to Jock.
Words fail me... It MUST be experienced to be adequately appreciated!
Before writing this we read the existing reviews on TripAdvisor. Anyone doing so must immediately recognize that the Old Manse is an exceptional place to stay and that Julie & Martin set a new standard for service and hospitality. What more can we say?
Everything that has been said about the attention to detail, special touches, spectacular food, beautiful surroundings and, of course, the marvelous proprietors, Julie & Martin, are absolutely true. We consider ourselves blessed to have met Julie & Martin. In all our years of traveling we have never received such a sincere and genuine welcome. Usually we select 5-star establishments. Julie & Martin offer a level of hospitality that simply cannot be measured or expressed on a 5-point scale. To paraphrase the slogan of my favorite single malt, "This is the B&B against which all other B&Bs must be measured!"
On a more somber note, we wish to extend our sincere sympathy for the passing of Wee Jock. He was a lovely little guy and I'm sure that returning guests to the Old Manse will miss him as we do.
We are already counting the days until we can revisit this wonderful place and our marvelous friends - Julie & Martin.
Accomodation and hospitality absolutly fantastic we have never felt so welcome
when we drove up to the house we were greeted with a gorgeous setting. the surroundings and gardens were extremely well kept and breath taking to look at. we were greeted by Julie and shown our room. the room was even more gorgeous than the pictures give it credit for. the bathroom was very modern with the most amazing shower we have ever seen! there was a separate living area with a flat screen tv and fridge with complimentary drinks. the house, bathroom, bedroom, living area was absolutly immaculate. Martin and Julie took the time out to tell us about places to eat and see. the breakfast was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. the warm welcome and service from Martin and Julie was second to none they are fantastic hosts and just a pleasure to have met. we couldnt recommend this place more highly, we will definatly be back for a longer stay.
After camping at various sites throughout Scotland, the Old Manse was to be our night of luxury! It was everything we had hoped for and more! The location was wonderful, the accommodation fantastic and Julie and Martin were the perfect hosts. We had a lovely stay and we hope to return for longer soon!
My wife and I had a fantastic stay for our first wedding anniversary. Julie and Martin were
unbelievable hosts. The rose petals on the bed were a WOW treatment. Could not ask for more. We will be back!
