More about 14 Hart Street
Wonderful B & B
We stayed at this lovely beatifully furnished "bed & breakfast" for our short two evening/three day visit in Edinbugh from July 22-24, 2007.
14 Hart Street is a centrally located, warm, friendly and relaxing B&B after a day taking in the sites of Endinburgh. In advance of our long days touring the city. Angela and James (always available but never imposing) started us off each morning with a delicious made-to-order hot breakfast in their elegant yet comfortable dining room. Their personal attentiveness, charm and sharing of local culture, history, dining recommendations and other points of interest made for a wonderful experience.
We highly recommend Angela & James' ....14 Hart Street .

Elegant B&B with the feel of a boutique hotel
This is a beautiful little B&B on a quiet, residential street just a few minutes walk from the bustling centre of Edinburgh.
The room we stayed in was elegant, comfortable and stylish by turns. Modern touches such as the small flat screen TV and sparkling chrome en suite bathroom are blended perfectly with wonderful pieces of antique furniture and art.
The whole place has the feel of a top notch boutique hotel - except that it is significantly cheaper and James and Angela, the warm and engaging propreitors, have created an experience more personal and memorable than most reputable hotels could hope to offer.
If, like us, your first instinct when planning a weekend away is to book a brand name hotel - think again. All the things you're hoping for in your accommodation - extreme comfort, great location, a hearty breakfast, friendly hosts - are at 14 Hart Street.
Wonderful Hospitality for a memorable week end in Edinburgh
My boyfriend and I have just come back from a romantic week end in Edinburgh. Our visit was made even more memorable by staying at "14 Hart Street". It is located on a beautiful and quite street, very near to Waverley Station (10min walk) and Edinburgh Centre: 15min walk to the Scottish Parliament as well as Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile (and other popular sightseeing).
The hospitality we received was wonderful and the room we were given was elegantly furnished, and had a cosy feeling (perfect to come back after a whole day walking and exploring the city). The property itself is a grand and elegant townhouses that the owners have turned into a welcoming B&B, but also have retained their family history and personal touches, therefore you feel you are welcomed to their own home, which makes the stay even more pleasant. We truly did have a wonderful week end and it was a pleasure meeting the owners, and we look forward to returning to Edinburgh soon and certainly staying at 14 hart street again!
14 Hart street is a 10 minute walk from the main streets of Edinburgh.
On arrival at our accomodation it looked understated on the outside, as it is a big town house; however, once inside it was grand, lavish and homely.
The owners and housekeeper were very flexible and happy to accomodate any needs we had.
It was a very relaxed atmosphere and they would prepare a lovely breakfast for the time we required.
I would happily recommend 14 Hart Street to anyone, and if we visit Edinburgh again I would definitely book to stay here again.
Wonderful experience at 14 Hart Street
My husband and I stayed at this wonderful B & B in October 2007 on the last leg of our UK trip. I believe that we saved the best for last. The owners, Angela and James Wilson, are wonderful hosts. Our accommodations were excellent. The rooms are quite large compared to the usual cramped hotel rooms one is accustomed to in the UK. You will not be disappointed staying at 14 Hart Street. The B&B is very cozy and welcoming. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of our accommodations, which included wonderful fluffy towels, reading material on Edinburgh, coffee/tea service in the room, shortbread cookies, and a bottle of wine and decanter of Scotch! You are guaranteed to get a great night’s sleep on very comfortable beds. There is a TV in each room, however, after a full day of walking around Edinburgh seeing the sights one doesn’t need the TV. We had everything you could possibly want.
The breakfast is not to be missed. Betty, the housekeeper/cook, believes in starting the day with a hearty breakfast. The beautiful dining room table is set with lovely china, different kinds of yogurt and granolas/muesli, and then on to the eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, toast, jams, coffee, tea, juice and pretty much anything else you could ask for. Delightful!
I can't say enough good things about this place. The convenience of the location and the hospitality are incredible. The B&B is very close to Prince St. and the main city center. Everything is within walking distance of this B&B. The neighborhood is quite, situated a block and a half off a main street. There are many small, interesting restaurants in the area, so you'll not go hungry wandering the streets looking for a place to have dinner. ATM machines are a 5 min walk away which is good as the owner’s do not accept credit cards.
Fantastic place to stay
After staying in a couple Hotels in England, I decided to give a B&B a go when I got to Scotland and I loved it. Our hosts, James and Angela, were always so helpful and nice and showed a keen interest in what we were doing. The house is beautifully decorated and it is easy to feel at home there. I can't fault my stay in anyway and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Edinburgh. It was perfectly located for me - only a short stroll to Princes St and the train station. I loved the breakfast too - always ate too much so rarely required lunch. Definitely the highlight of my accomodations through my three country tour. I know where I am staying if I'm back in Edinburgh.
14 Hart Street
Angela and James Wilson of 14 Hart Street are everything you could wish for while staying in Edinburgh. They are extremely friendly and always willing to help with any queries or advice concerning your visit, be it where to eat or how to get to somewhere.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in Edinburgh, we hadn't realised it was Six Nations rugby at the same time and found it quite hard to get accomodation but Angela was very understanding and made the booking without fuss or bother.
We mentioned that we were having a honeymoon weekend after getting married a few weeks earlier, we have been together for 13 years so didn't feel we had to rush, and on our departure we were presented with a box of chocolates. This was such a nice touch and shows that they are a caring couple who want you to have a nice time whilst you are with them.
The rooms and the house in general had lots of fantastic period features and was lovely and cosy.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.
Great stay at 14 Hart
We had a wonderful 3 day stay at 14 Hart at the end of January. The location was fantastic. It is on a quiet street and an easy walk to all over the city. It is in the new town close to Broughton Street and only about a 10 minute walk to the Royal Mile. Angela and James were very kind and made us feel very welcome. The house is beautifully decorated and was comfortable and very clean. We had a great stay and would highly recommend.
Perfect Home Away from Home in Edinburgh
We spent a wonderful 5 nights in Edinbugh at 14 Hart Street. It could not have been more perfect. The home is situated in the heart of New Town, yet off well-traveled streets. This makes it quiet and calm -- yet quick to access the restaurants, tourist sites, and shopping areas. The home itself is lovely -- decorated with beautiful antiques and etchings. Our room - one of two -- was spacious, private, and very comfortable. The Scottish breakfast was both hearty and delicious -- we didn't need to eat again till dinner. Our hosts provided us with all the information we needed to make our stay enjoyable -- yet all the privacy we wanted as well. Can't say enough good things about this lovely B&B.
