my wife and i recently stayed in one of the best guest houses( in our opinion) in Edinburgh.
We go regular for the the Tattoo and Festival.
This BB was very clean and furnishings were excellent.
the Scottish breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
The friendly atmosphere and willingness to go the extra mile was very much appreciated.
Well done Angie for amost enjoyable stay

We stayed for four nights and had a lovely time.Angela and her family were very welcoming and friendly.
The house is beautifully decorated throughout and the room that we were in was perfect for us,the ensuite was spotless as was everything else. The breakfast(which we could have had in the conservatory) was really good and set us up for the days exploring the city.Angela was really helpful with where to eat and visit, nothing was too much trouble for her.We would recommend the Abercorn as a really good place to stay,no matter how lond a visit you might be thinking about.
We were made feel so welcome, it was wonderful!

We were quite footloose and fancy-free during our 2-1/2 week driving trip around the UK, and had decided that we would like to spend one night in Edinburgh. We drove past the Abercorn Guest House and liked what we saw - a "Vacancy" sign - so rang the doorbell. We were greeted by Angela and Wally and made to feel so welcome, it was absolutely wonderful! Angela almost talked us out of staying, apologising profusely because the only room she had left was quite small. We chatted, and chatted, and were made to feel so welcome, that we said "Just let us get our bags out of the car, and we are staying!"
After we had unloaded the car and starting getting sorted in our room, there was a knock on the door and Angela appeared with two drams of "ten year old" - just to welcome us to Scotland!
We had a fantastic breakfast, then easily found our way into the city via the local bus - with very specific instructions from our resident tour director, Angela! We decided we wanted to stay an extra night, and were readily accommodated.
The next morning, we enjoyed another wonderful breakfast and with tears in our eyes, bade farewell to Angela and Wally. We also got to say goodbye to their two beautiful King Charles Caveliers, Molly and Charlie, who were allowed out of the back room to get a goodbye pat.
All in all, it was the most enjoyable B&B experience we have had anywhere in the world, and we've already told them that next time we're in town, we'll be staying at the Abercorn Guest House! We've also invited Angela and Wally to look us up if they can ever arrange a trip "Down Under".
Cheers!

Fabulous!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Abercorn Guest House! The house itself is lovely, very well kept, and the room was very comfortable. The location is very nice, just a short walk from the beautiful beach, and a really reasonable bus ride from Princes Street. The bus runs past the house very frequently, and we never had a problem getting into town or back to our room at night. Angela, the owner, is an absolute doll! So sweet, friendly, and extremely helpful. If I ever get a chance to visit the beautiful city of Edinburgh, I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else but here!

Best Guest House

We arrived lateish in the afternoon and Angela showed us our room and said, "You look like you need a cup of tea, get your bags from the car and I'll put a pot of tea in your room."
We could not have asked for a warmer welcome! The tea was perfect and the room beautifully furnished, comfortable and quiet with a view over the garden. Both the large room and excellent bathroom were spotlessly clean and well supplied with all that we needed for a comfortable stay.
Angela was able to advise us on places to eat and buses to catch, "make sure you have the correct change" ... good advice!
Breakfast was excellent, a wide choice including hot food, from porridge to a full cooked breakfast, cooked to order.
The family feel to Abercorn Guest House was very pleasant, we enjoyed the attention to our comfort, the quiet humour and the interest shown in our visit. We found Abercorn Guest House to be very convenient to the city and would recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Anne and her sisters
A fabulous stay

This was our second visit to Abercorn Guest House and once again we were made to feel so welcome as soon as we walked in. Our room was spotless and the bathroom looked as if we were the first to use it! We really enjoyed our breaksfast which was cooked to perfection and served in a timely manner. Mrs McDonald was always there to offer useful and friendly advice during our weekend. I would certainly recommend Abercorn to anyone as a base to explore Edinburgh and look forward to returning very soon.

The best place to stay in Edinburgh
by TripAdvisor Member PhilSheffield
We came to Edinburgh to visit friends, who now live just down the road, but had stayed in the Abercorn themselves while searching for somewhere to live. Their recommendation was hard to live up to, but our stay there was perfect. We had rooms for ourselves and the girls, both of which were beautiful, comfortable, clean and warm. The whole place is full of charm and style and both Angela and Willy were friendly, helpful and welcoming to us and the girls. The breakfasts were very good with all the hot and cold options you could think of. Travelling to the town centre couldn't be easier with the bus (number 26, I think) going into Edinburgh about every 10 minutes and stopping just a few steps from the guest house gate. Angela recommended a good family restaurant , 'Browns' a fantastic place with lovely food and a lively family friendly atmosphere.
We will be staying there every time we go to Edinburgh in the future and can't wait to go back.

Fantastic B&B
by TripAdvisor Member SEW_Bristol
We stayed Friday & Saturday 9 & 10 March 2007 partly to see the City & partly to watch an RBS6Nations game.
The accommodation, food & service were great and the owner & her family were friendly and helpful. Its location near the beach at Joppa/Portobello is ideal for walks etc.
It's a short bus ride (only £1 each way) into the City.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good, value for money, place to stay whilst visiting Edinburgh.
Loved the Abercorn - what a great place..... with the best hostess!
by TripAdvisor Member Muschamp00
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this 'home from home' guest house. The accommodation was excellent, the breakfast delicious and the hostess just the best! We even had our pick of the best rooms (althought they're all lovely). Angela (the owner/hostess) is wonderful and can't do enough for you. What a lady! Would recommend anyone visiting Edinburgh to stay at this beautiful guest house..... you will not be disappointed. We can't wait to go back for another long weekend. Gail & Ed
