Peaceful place

If you need a rest away from the bustling city center and a more friendly and smaller place, so Argyle is your quiet option to relax.

Just cross the Meadows park and you will fing your happiness in a small street, but with all convenient shop as grocery, coffee shop (ideal for breakfast), the traditionnal Argyle pub, a thai take-away restaurant and even a bicycle maintenance centre, by the way where you could also hire a bike for a few hours.

Unique Quality:
The backpacker offer two self catering kitchens, a summer and winter garden, a TV/Internet living room and twin, double or dorm (4,6,8,10) rooms on two storeys. I paid GBP 15 per night for a bed in a 4 bedrooms including a TV (bonus;-) and a sink. Room was clean but smelly... maybe due to the numerous magic tree air freshener ???

Staff was efficient, helpful and friendly.

Out Of The Centre - Quiet, Cosy - Argyle BP

I like this one. The staff are friendly and know what they are doing. It is some way from the centre (20 minutes on foot) but such a lovely walk its so well worth it. Same distance out of town as Eglington or Bruntsfield Hostels.

Unique Quality: Argyle is a farely small place, a converted house in a normal street - much quieter and friendlier.

There is now also a cafe on site.

This is the sort of place I'd choose to stay a week, a nice base to get to know Edinburgh more intimately.

Ideal for energetic explorers who want to get away from all night revellers (they will at least have sobered up somewhat on the walk home!).

Argyle Backpackers Hostel

$34-40 for own room, I think.

Unique Quality: They were nice, clean, and very helpful. I got my own room with my friend, and we shared a bed. They even put lavender or sage in the pillowcase. Nice, big room.
