Edinburgh - Apartment #3

by al_mary

Greetings from the USA:

We had asked about the following apartments in
an earlier posts:

"Lady Wynd Apartment"
5/3 Lady Wynd, Grassmarket, Edinburgh, EH1 2LH
and
"Blair Apartment"
21/9 Blair Street, Edinburgh

Now we find out that neither is available for the
time we want it .... :o(

We found another apartment:
"Balmore House"
34, Gilmore Place, Edinburgh EH3 9NQ

Is anyone familiar with the apartment building
or the street location it is on ??

Is this a nice area to be in ??
Is it near all the main attractions ??

The place looks ok on the internet, but we
cannot find many reviews on it ??

We look forward to your input.

Happy Travels ..........
Al and Mary / USA

That is still very central and just up Lothian Road from the end of Princes Gardens. In fact it is very very close to the Sheraton Hotel, and see what is close by there with this link:

Enjoy Scotland and come back again!

This is a pub on Rose Street. I went to Rose Street almost every night to check e-mail. I am so addicted, it's sad. The place to go is called EasyEverything. It's around 1 pound for 1 1/2 hours, but depends on the time of day for some reason.

Bill Bryson - Notes from a small island

by HORSCHECK

Notes from a small island by Bill Bryson tells the story of Bryson's last trip around Britain before moving back to the States after almost 20 years on the British island.
The book is packed with interesting and funny stories about travelling as it really happens. By reading the book you get a nice insight into the life of the British people and their peculiarities. Some places Bryson visits on his trip are: Bradford, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Llandudno, London, Porthmanog and Thurso.
This book is definitely a must-read for everyone before or after a trip to Britain.

Deep Sea World

by MalenaN

Deep Sea World is an Aquarium about 20 minutes from Edinburgh. Here you find over 2000 species of marine life, some in smaller aquariums of different environments and some in the big tank. A long tunnel is going under the big tank in which you can see several sand tiger sharks, rays and conger eels. In the smaller aquariums you can see tropical corals and fishes, piranhas, different anemones and starfishes. If I had had a chair I could have sat in front of the aquarium with all the corals for a long time to watch all movements and colours. There are also some amphibians and reptiles.
When I was visiting they were building a seal sanctuary outside the building. It looks like it’s going to be a big attraction for the summer.

Deep Sea World opens at 10 a.m. and an adult ticket costs 8.25 pounds. There is a cafeteria and a souvenir shop.
It is only a few minutes walk from North Queensferry train station and the way is well signed.

Royal shopping?

by tompt about Ocean Terminal Shopping centre.

See the Royal Yacht Brittania and stay the rest of the day in the Ocean Terminal Shopping centre. Great shops and great food in the food plaza.
Don´t forget the toilets, they are great! It will give you the sence of being on the sea. All sort of shops here!
