The Beer Hunt Continues...in Edinburgh,Scotland!!!
by Cabana_Boy
Wherever you go, whatever you do, sampling the local beer is definite must.
What do the locals drink, what beer is most popular, which beer is hardest to find, does it come in a half pint glass just like grandma used to drink…or better still, a full pint glass like I drink??? These are all good questions that need to be answered...
One thing that has surprised me while drinking in Scotland is the abundance and local consumption of mass-produced America beers such as Budweiser and Miller… It seems the locals are drinking more Miller than Belhaven for _ _ _ _ sake!!!
Anyway, as my mantra goes, I am into the local stuff wherever I go and there are lots of good beers to choose from in Scotland. At the top of my list is Tennant’s and Belhaven’s Best, two very honest beers to be enjoyed wherever you are in Scotland…at the horse track in Perth, on the train, in a stream, at the base of Ben Nevis, in the pubs of Aberdeen or Edinburgh with a good dose of crack!!!
Tolbooth Kirk

Tolbooth Kirk
With the 72.8M tallest spire on one of Edinburgh's highest points, the Highland Tolbooth Kirk is an important feature of the skyline.
Now, it's being the home of the Edinburgh Festival Office.
Sturdy shoes and for God's sake and umbrella!
by Peterodl
Nothing big is recommended unless you like to carry it up steps, and there's LOTS of steps in Edinburgh. Sturdy shoes. Most of all the Old Town is cobblestone.
A good sweater and jacket for winter is fine as long as you layer.
An umbrella or something to cover your head is advisable in the winter time, just remember to keep a good hold on it near the castle as it's very windy there. A good digital camera or a nice SLR is a must. There's lots of pictures to be taken in Edinburgh.
You must visit Castle Gloom on...

You must visit Castle Gloom on the outskirts of Edinburgh. It it a short bus ride, but definately worthy. Climb the large hill located by the old Castle, and admire the wonderful Scotish country side. You will recollect about it forever.
SHOP OF DELIGHTS
by Duffelgirl about Valvona & Crolla Caffe Bar
Greg entered this Italian shop and his face lit up like fairy lights! Over to my shop critic, Gregory, for a review:
'Valvonacrolla is a cornucopia, a veritable library of assorted foodstuffs and culinary miscellanea. Visit the website and admire obligatory comments from celebrity Chef's and broad-sheet food critics, people who wouldn't lend their respected names to anything less than the best. Pity cities around the globe that lack the fortune to be host to such graceful emporiums of edibles and drinkables. Whiskey selection may be the finest in Edinburgh, if not the bounds of the known universe.'
