Eurohostel: Cheap and cheerful?
We had a great stay in Edinburgh but our accommodation left us somewhat disappointed. We stayed in a twin room which was in an apartment with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. The kitchen was absolutely disgusting - fair enough, the accommodation is used by students for nine months of the year, but we had hoped it might have been cleaned before we got there. We also found a colony of little insects which appeared from under one of the carpets. Not pleasant! The room rate was very reasonable but I guess we found out why! I would advise anyone staying anywhere, not just here, to ask to see the accommodation on arrival, before paying upfront.
Unique Quality: The hostel has accommodation in two buildings, New Arthur Place and College Wynd. If you are going to stay here make sure you get a room at College Wynd because only in this building do the rooms match the 'modern, spacious, clean' etc descriptions of the hostel's accommodation which appear in adverts on the web.
