Staying around Grassmarket
There are a number of different choices/prices for staying on or around the Grassmarket and it is an ideal location being close to the Castle and the Royal Mile. It’s in the Old Town so history is all around you, I recommend a visit to the Camera Obscura exhibition close to the entrance to the castle, there are some wonderful views of Edinburgh from the top. Do be aware that this part of Edinburgh is not particularly flat so you will encounter many hills and steps when walking around. Grassmarket itself has many pubs along one side which might be a bit noisy in the evenings. If you want to visit one I would say avoid Biddy Mulligans at one end and go to the Black Bull at the other end. Another interesting little pub to visit close by is the Bow Bar on West Bow just off Grassmarket. For a quirky eating experience I always recommend visitors to try Frankenstein’s, a bar with a Frankenstein theme built inside an actual church.

Good service and friendly people
Unique Quality: Grassmarket Hotel Edinburgh is a historic grey-stone building, perfectly located for visitors who wish to stay in the heart of Edinburgh city centre. The hotel is set beneath the Castle and on the lively Grassmarket, which buzzes with activity every night. There are 44 bedrooms within a historical tenement building, all offering en-suite facilities and other basic amenities. The hotel also has a fine selection of pubs and restaurants, including Biddy Mulligans located next door.

Budget Hotel
This was one of the only hotels with two single rooms left at the time when we traveled to Edinburgh.
This is a basic places to stay which was a Premier Lodge at one time.
The rooms are on suit with TV and Tea and coffee maker. The rooms are clean but the hotel as no bar as there is one next door owned by the same company.
It is not far from the centre of Edinburgh but is in a very historic part off the city.
This is a good cheap place to stay.
