the credit crunch has finally hit my wallet (oh dear)
by eugene.uk
Dear all
Are there any decent Chinese buffet restaurants in Edinburgh? I mean the “eat as much as you like” sort of place where you can stuff your face for next to nothing, preferably within walking from Princess Street.
Thank you all in advance.

There are quite a few with the most popular being Jimmy Chungs on Waverley Bridge or the Rendezvous on Queensferry St. You could look up the list for reviews on all of them.

Travel Tips for Edinburgh
Fringe Festival
by Travelchili
If you can be in Edinburgh over the three last weeks in late summer, you will have a great opportunity to follow one of the world's most important art festivals. You can choose between hundreds of theater performances, stand-up comedies, and variety of art-related events.
You can pick up the Fringe Festival catalogue at their official office in 180 High Street and you can also purchase the tickets there.
Edinburgh Tip

With Greg, we went to a pub and watched South Africa play Australia in the Tri Nations (I think). South Africa won the match. This was my first full rugby match that I have watched. It was really enjoyable, especially with all the emotion with other travellers.
Good walking shoes are a must
by scottishvisitor
A small back pack would be useful for drinks & snacks on the go As I said good & comfortable walking shoes = Edinburgh is a great City for walking
In summer a light rain jacket which can be packed away or quickly retreved in preperation of a quick rain shower None required you can buy anything you need in local shops/chemists, but if you are on prescribed medication be sure to bring it with you. I always carry a disposable camera just in case the digital one gets the hiccups
Fith of Forth Bridge
by leffe3
Built in the 19th century, the railway bridge that spans the Firth of Forth is an extraordinary structure, whether seen froma distance or, even better, from immediately below it on the shoreline. It is constantly being painted - by the time it has been finished, it is need to start again and has become a common metaphor - as never ending as the painting of the Firth of Forth bridge.
Take a bus to South Queensferry (the town on the southern shore) from Edinburgh and combine with a trip out to Incholm Island (see next of the beaten track) and lunch at one of the many pubs.
Shop in style
by tompt about Jenners
Jenners is the store to be seen in.
And there is a lot to see in Jenners too.
Walking through the streets with your Jenners shoppingbag is the thing to do. All you like Jenners is not the most expensive but not cheap either.....
