    Victorian Terrace build n 1880's

    A lot of Robert Burns history here

    Great all round facilities
    Feels homely rather than hotel

  • I stayed in Rothesay hotel with my husband for three nights in May 2006. We had looked though hotel's own web-pages and hotel looked decent. In reality we were a bit disappointed.

    Hotel was situated within few minutes walk from the West End of Princess Street, so location was convenient, but otherwise hotel was not so good choice. Room price was decent (£55/double) but room was in awful condition - looked like it was renovated last time about 50 years ago. Breakfast was not so good either. The level of service was varying, some of the staff were friendly but some of them not so friendly.

    I could not recommend that hotel to anybody - for the same price you should get something decent, even in Edinburgh.

  • Garfield Guest House is on Ferry Road so not very central, but has a bus stop very near (no. 23) and the Majestic tourist bus stops at the gate; taxis cost about £6 to the centre. There are six en suite rooms, quite small, but not too cramped, basic furniture but there is everything you need. They are spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable with good linen and duvets. The breakfast was very good and cooked to order so it arrived hot and fat free. You could make as much toast as you wanted, when you wanted. With a door key you could come and go as you please. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and ready to give information and advice. I would recommend it for a brief stay as the charge of £27.50pppn is incredibly low. It is a little spartan, but warm
