Great Castle Views
The Sheraton Edinburgh was great. A typical (if not nicer) Sheraton, it had a great location and a great staff. The rooms on the side of the hotel facing the castle are great, as you have a wonderful view.

Very classy establishment.
Stayed 1 night in November 09 as a handy alternative to finding our way home after a night out in the big city.
It is guaranteed a great write up because we were given an upgrade to a full suite! Lots of space, a bed big enough for 4, and a view of Edinburgh Castle.
Wowee.
We didn't try breakfast or the spa, but enjoyed our stay enormously.
It has a car park on site, but strangely they charge guests £9 for an overnight stay.
Unique Quality: Location and style.
This came as a very nice surprise!! I had read quite some bad reviews about this hotel on tripadvisor and was really wondering what I would find!
If you don't expect a hotel with a view, this is fine! It is located not too far from the famous castle and it's walking distance from the city centre but it is not that close.
The staff was nice and helpful. The room was spacious and well furnished, the bed was a real dream (well, that was a King size), the only negative remark I could make is about the bathroom: in general, it was ok but, one more time, the shower was integrated within the bath! This is purely personal but if you don't have space to have both separately, just install a nice shower. I never have the time to take a bath in a hotel room anyway...
The hotel facilities also included a spa and a big swimming pool but I haven't got the opportunity to test any of them...
Unique Quality: The breakfast was absolutely fantastic! Definitely the kind of buffet you wish to find in this kind of hotel...and as any good Scottish breakfast, it included haggis and black pudding!
Stayed at yon establishment on a business trip to asset strip some company offices and warehouses.
Hotel is okay and quite busy but there's hardly a Scot to be seen on either side of the client/employee barrier.
Unique Quality: I was lucky enough to have a view of the house on the hill that the Scots laughingly call a castle.
Admittedly it was a partial view and entailed standing on a chair and looking over a nearby roof, but there was a view of yon Hoose.
VT Member Han85 doesn't agree with my assessment of the Castle. His opinion is as valid as the next man's, however, the Norman Castles such as Arundel and Warwick are far more imposing. Sorry Jock.
It is worth staying in this hotel for the spa alone. It is rated as one of the the best in the world. It is extremely relaxing after a day sightseeing or shopping. To me, being able to relax in the jacuzzi at the top of the hotel with the sounds of the Edinburgh streets and the fresh Scottish air, well, it is magic. Good food at this hotel and comfortable rooms. It is also in a good area as it is in the centre of Edinburgh. The Usher Hall and The Traverse Theatre are over the road. It is also very near Princes Street which is the main shopping area.
Unique Quality: Spa is fantastic and treatment rooms superb.
Situated not far from the city center (Castle, Royal Mile, Princess street, Grass Market).
Unique Quality: There is a very good spa in the hotel. You can book a room via internet.

This is probably my favourite hotel in Edinburgh city centre. It has a convenient location on Festival Square (which is at one end of Princes Street). It is perfectlt placed for sightseeing, shopping and nightlife (the latter was particularly important to us as we stayed for a hen weekend!)
The public areas of the hotel have an air of luxury and it seems that TV celebrities choose to stay in this hotel too.
Facilities within the hotel include: Swimming pool, gym, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdriers, televisions in the bedrooms.
Unique Quality: The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. We had a spectacular view of Edinburgh Castle from our room. This is a hotel where you can ask specifically for a non-smoking room. This is ideal for me as I am noted at work for my ability to spot when staff have been smoking in company cars!
We found that we could easily obtain additional tea and coffee making supplies when we had used up the supply that had been left when the room had been prepared for us.
The swimming pool within the hotel is larger than your average hotel pool and so it is perfect for doing lengths - a perfect way to relax the morning after! There is also a spa within the hotel thought we didn't have enought time to use it.

The Sheraton Edinburgh was great. A typical (if not nicer) Sheraton, it had a great location and a great staff. The rooms on the side of the hotel facing the castle are great, as you have a wonderful view.
Just to counteract the moans of some of the other people to have reviewed this hotel, my boyfriend and I stayed there this Valentine's weekend and had a great time. The room was a standard hotel room, but nicely furnished, comfortable and fairly spacious. The bathroom, although small and fairly standard, had everything we needed, including a good quality shower.
The hotel facilities are all very good. They have a nice bar, choice of restaurants and the excellent One Spa. Although hotel guests have free access to the swimming pool and gym, there is a fee of £20 (£65 for non-hotel guests) to use the extra spa facilities. We thought this was entirely reasonable since the spa offers so much more than most hotel spas.
The thermal suite is fantatic for relaxing after a cold day in Edinburgh, but the highlight is definitely the outdoor rooftop hydrotherapy pool, where you can lie back and relax under the stars. The spa staff were very friendly and helpful, as was all the service we received during our stay.
Breakfast is a little pricey but well worth having.
The hotel is very well situated for Princes Street and the Castle, with a good choice of bars and restaurants within five minutes walk. There's also a taxi rank just outside the hotel and it costs around £15 to get to the airport.
We would definitely stay there again.
Although the actual rooms may not be 5 star quality everything else about this hotel is. There is an excellent bar and restaurants on site and it is only a short walk to the pubs and clubs. As we were on a refined stag weekend the spa was very welcome and compares favourably with any I have visited in Europe. The spa has won Conte Neste's travel magazine UK spa of the year various times since its opening. We got a rate of £99 per room by booking in advance with Sheraton direct and I would definently return to this hotel.
My daughter's wedding was held in the hotel at the beginning of March.
From the moment the first guest arrived until we left at the end of the night the service was first class. Everything was taken care of by our Wedding Planner Julia, who provided all the help and advice required. Staff in the dining area were extremely pleasant and carried out their duties quickly and efficiently. Food was absolutely superb! Floral decorations were truly amazing.
We have nothing but praise for the staff on the Big Day - a truly memorable occasion!
Highly Recommend.
